(UK) I want to look into getting a car through HP/lease rather than having an owned vehicle?

Does anyone know the best places to recommend getting a car this way (I.e. reliable dealers with reasonable APR). Are there any good websites? Thanks

I have a question concerning car dealerships?

I have went to my second dealership in as many days and both of the cars that I looked at had check engine lights. When I told the salesman of the matter, both times, the salesman seemed not to know that there ever was a check engine light. As if its not a big deal.

Actually im happy that they left it and didnt reset it only for it to come back later after I potentially would have purchased it.

My question is are check engine lights that serious? I know it can be a loose gas cap, clogged filter, etc, but a lot of cars seem to have this check engine light.

And can a mechanic inspecting a car tell if a check eninge light has been reset prior to sell?

And why dont dealerships know alot about their cars like when timing belt was changed etc.

Sorry to bother yall, but I didnt know anything about cars until 3 months ago and now I know a lot and may be a little too paranoid when it comes to buying a car
I have a question concerning car dealerships?
Welcome to the real world. When it comes to owning a car, you are really lucky if you can find one repair person in a million that knows what he/she is doing; and is also honest.
I have a question concerning car dealerships?
Check engine light could be ANYTHING.

Check engine light should be rename "please have the engine code scanned" light. It by itself means nothing (other than something is wrong). It could be loose gas cap or bad cat converter.

And if they were to reset it, the emission would fail, because the ODBii system would not read - ready. It takes about 1 hour driving or 50 miles for the ODBii to be ready for scanning.

It used to be that check engine light meant tons $$$ for repair. But most of the modern cars - the diagnostics is pretty straight forward for educated mechanic. The real problem is that the repair can be few dollars or few hundred dollars.

If I was you I would get a ODBii scanner - as then can be used on many cars and it will make your life easier.

===

One of the reason why they dealers don't know when timing belt was changed is because that knowledge rarely helps in the sales. They only try to know stuff that helps. The rest they leave it to your imagination.

Good Luck...
Reply:Check engine lights are rarely serious. You can have a mechanic do the diagnostic if you want to see why the car thinks the light should be on. Most used car dealerships can only go on the word of the person that brought the car in and so just check it everything looks ok. There's no reason to worry and most dealers will allow you to take the car to a mechanic to get checked out before you buy it.
Reply:One Sidebar that you need to know. On most modern cars, once you insert the key, the Check Engine Light does comes on and stays on till the Microprocessor does its Diagnostic check.

Hence the light can stay on for as little as 5 seconds to almost full minute on older cars maybe even more. Also its a common misconception among the Sales folks that if the light is on that means you need to do Oil change.

I don't know what you mean by "not too expensive". For some that is $5K. For others that's $25K.

Having said that I think the Civic and the Mazda 3 are good lookers and sporty (kind of fast) and get great MPG. Even my OLD 94 Civic still gets 41 MPG (doing 72 MPG). So at 55 it would be even better.

I'm thinking of buying a motorbike but have no experience. What's a good start and what should I look for?

I've heard you should start on a 600cc - what's a good starting road bike for a beginner and what should I look for if buying second-hand?
I'm thinking of buying a motorbike but have no experience. What's a good start and what should I look for?
I'd suggest buying a used bike of 250cc or so. If you don't put TOO much money into it you won't be worried about scratching it. Then later you can resell it %26amp; trade up to something bigger. Of course it depends on your size %26amp; comfort, too. My 6' 2" boyfriend likes my 250, but it's not comfortable for him for long.

Any used bike you should get checked by an experienced motorcycle mechanic; it will be worth any fee they might charge.

Victim of on spot delivery...what should I do now? HELP!!!!?

The dealer allowed me to take home the car without my financing being finalized and approved by the bank. To show that I do have proof of income, I sent in current and past copies of personal checks issued by my boss. Now the dealer contacts me and say that my financing will NOT get approved unless I provide a paystub, of which are NOT issued with my employer. I paid a downpayment, and most likely I have been a victim of "spot delievery."

Question is: can I get my money back (given I send the car back) if I do not get the financing I agreed and signed on to?
Victim of on spot delivery...what should I do now? HELP!!!!?
Legally, yes you should be able to. They may be able to charge you for the use of the car, however, so you might not get it all back.

And unless your employer is not running a legal business, they should be able to provide you with SOME form of proof of income.
Victim of on spot delivery...what should I do now? HELP!!!!?
i think so
Reply:You were not a victim, you were an active participant. You knew you did not have final approval for the financing, and you knew you did not get regular pay stubs (and I'm guessing did not tell the dealer).

See if you can return the car and get your money back, then start over. Get approved for financing and THEN find a car. Anyone who does it the other way around is asking for trouble.

Can I trade in my 07 Civic Hybrid I bought 6 months ago for a leased car?

The payments are high and I could get a leased civic that gets almost as good of mileage with a cheaper monthly payment. I'm no car salesman so can anyone help me out?
Can I trade in my 07 Civic Hybrid I bought 6 months ago for a leased car?
You are digging bigger and bigger hole.

When you bought a car just 6 months ago, you lost somewhere between 20% to 30% of the car value. And buying another car on top of that...

===

Your best bet would be to try and get a personal loan or home equity loan (student loan if you are student), etc. and "refinance" this current loan. Unlike a home refinance, cars are NOT really refinanced. The most you can do is to try and pay off the current loan with another loan that has

(1) better rates,

(2) lower monthly payment rate

(3) more deductible on the tax return.

Good Luck...

P.S. leasing is one of the worst things you can do. The best way to save money is to buy a car and hold it and squeeze every penny's worth of value before selling it. It seems like you haven't done much research. If you are not the kind of research person, ask a friend or family member for advice. But don't just sign a large contract (lease) without being more informed.
Can I trade in my 07 Civic Hybrid I bought 6 months ago for a leased car?
You must be informed when going to trade in your car to a dealership. If you are not certain of the value then you can be at a disadvantage.

Dont be suprised if a dealership makes a terrible offer. It's really easy to get a quote online to see how much your car is worth. I have recommended http://tradein.123thebest.info - Good luck.

Buying a diesel or petrol car?

I'm considering buying a new car soon. Diesel fuel is cheaper here than gasoline. In the long run, I'd like to know which would be worth my money considering fuel costs, maintenance. I was told that new diesel engines have good performance comparable to gasoline engines.
Buying a diesel or petrol car?
If diesiel is cheap in your country then i would definetly go with diesel as you get better mileage per litre nad it it is also better for the environment.in terms of maintainence, as far as i know it costs the same for servicing and repairs.
Buying a diesel or petrol car?
generally speaking diesels require less maintenance than their gasoline cousins.

Selling a Car on The Web?

Hi there,

I was wondering if someone could tell me of the best way to sell a car on the web. I was thinking of Ebay or Auto Trader but wasn't sure which is the best. For the record it is a Jaguar X-Type and I am hoping to get about 15k.

Is it possible to sell it on both of these sites simultaneously?

Or which is the best way to go about selling this car..
Selling a Car on The Web?
Yes you can list it on as many sites as you want. Just be sure and remove the listings when you sell. And the only people that shop for cars on the web are bargain hunters, so be sure and set the reserve price around what you want to get for it.

Best advice I can give...trade it in and let the dealership worry about reselling the car.
Selling a Car on The Web?
I would go with Craigslist first. It's free.

Ebay charges a set $40 listing fee and then $40 selling fee.

Auto Trader charges a significan fee as well.

Put it up on Craigslist first.

BTW, I would not recommend trading it in. The stealership will give you peanuts for it, and then turn around and sell it for thousands more. Selling on your own is slightly more hassle, but you're more likely to get your asking price. Trading a car in is more convenient, but you'll be lucky to get half of what you're asking for.
Reply:E H has it right... go to craigslist i just got my camaro rs from there... also some other things... and the best part....... ITS FREE.... just be aware of scammmmmmers... good luck selling ur car...
Reply:If your in the UK Ebay and Auto Trader are the main sites but expensive, you could try Gumtree, be aware your make and model of car are oversupplied and in free fall so trading in can be a good option if the price is right.

Used 07 Camry Hybrid or new 09 Corolla?

Which should I buy? I can buy the Camry hybrid for about $1000 more than a fully loaded Corolla. The hybrid has 30K miles on it. The real world gas mileage is about 34 for the hybrid and 30 for the Corolla in mixed driving. The warranty on the battery will be up June 2014 or 100k miles. Both have a warranty for 36/36000miles. I drive about 2000 miles a month. I am leaning towards the hybrid because it has a better ride and is a little bigger. I am a little worried about the hybrid technology being reliable. Please let me know your opinion. Thanks!
Used 07 Camry Hybrid or new 09 Corolla?
Here's the secret to hybrid technology ... it only saves you gas when you're driving local. Once you're on the highway, you're burning the same amount of gas.

If you're doing 2000 miles a month, I'm assuming you're doing quite abit of highway driving ... this won't save you any money.

The saving with the hybrid is it turns off the engine when idling and low rpms. This is perfect for local driving.

Either way, you can't go wrong. The Camry is a bigger car with more space. The Corolla is a very economical and reliable vehicle.

Have you test driven them yet? Go for a drive under normal driving conditions and see which one you like better.
Used 07 Camry Hybrid or new 09 Corolla?
i would go for a new car the other one has 30,000 miles on it and thats quite a bit. But a new car has like zero miles on it and thats 30,000 miles you didnt have before
Reply:I'd go with the used Hybrid because you get more car for your money. I agree with the other guy where the hybrid wont really save you much money on the highway. Try looking for a regular loaded 4 cyl Camry.

I am planning to buy my 1st car next month or so. My budget is Rs 5-5.5Lacks.?

I stay in Bangalore and I would mainly drive with my family on weekend in the city. Request all members here to let me know which is a suitable car. Looks matter to me as well as mileage. I had 3 cars in my mind .... Get Prime GVS 1.1, Ford Ikon, Chehevrolet Yuva. Please suggest if my choice is correct or there are better options.

Note - I do not like the looks of Swift so its not in my list.
I am planning to buy my 1st car next month or so. My budget is Rs 5-5.5Lacks.?
Dear Friend, it is not the right time to go for a family car, as the petrol is sky rocketing, adding with maintenance and also you have clearly said it is only for a week end drive purpose. so take the help of cabs / travels for the same do not invest in Car, put the same in FD and get interest and use the interest for your Travel / week end purpose. any how it is my suggestion. inflation is soaring daily. think practically. do not get discouraged by my answer.
I am planning to buy my 1st car next month or so. My budget is Rs 5-5.5Lacks.?
looks like the Hyundai Prime has the most options and its the least ugly. Hyundai's are good cars thats what i would pick. If you guys have a toyota corolla equivelent or a Honda Civic Equivelent those are two very reliable and fuel efficent cars (we call the Yuva the Aveo and the icon a Focus)
Reply:gow tih hyundai i10 magna with sunroof.
Reply:Tata Indigo diesal
Reply:In my opinion the mileage of cars are also a major factor in buying cars so if you go for a smaller car, the getz prime will be an option. But if u want to consider space and want to buy a bigger car , i think hyundai accent and ford ikon are at par.

If u wanted to save some money u could have also have considered a swift diesel.

Which is Best? Toyota Hilux, Nissan Nivara or Holden Rodeo? The newer models that is.?

Hilux. In my country the Hilux is priced in line with the much more toned down Nissan Hardbody, with which it competes.

The Nissan Nivara is much more expensive, but resembles the Hilux in looks and features. The Toyota is therefore much better value for money, when compared to the Nivara. It is also surprisingly light on fuel, has a name for reliability, affordable maintenance etc.

I'm not talking about looks, inside and out, as those are subjective, allthough personally I don't think they Hilux does too bad in this department either. I like the Nivara, but I'd go for the Hilux as the sensible choice. Sorry, I don't know anything about the Holden Rodeo, can't help you there.

I would consider the new Ford Ranger (if it has the same name in your country) as not being a bad choice either. It also depends what type of engine you like (petrol / diesel). Toyota's 3.0 D4D Diesel is superb, and a completely new advanced and efficient engine. The Ford engine is also excellent. Nissan's 3l diesel has had some problems, but their petrol (or gasoline, or whatever you call it) is great though. But for that matter, so is the Toyota 2.7 VVTI.
Which is Best? Toyota Hilux, Nissan Nivara or Holden Rodeo? The newer models that is.?
it depends if your talking about four wheel drive or 2 wheel drive! in the four wheel drive i would go for the toyota hulux because of their good reputation and they hold their price better than the nissan navara and holden rodeo i would steer away from nissan tho holden do make good cars as we all know but as a trade man for a ute the hulux. in two wheel drive i would go for the hulux or the nissan navara im just not a fan of the holden rodeo in the two wheel drive. also if your thinking deisiel go for the toyota or the nissan!!! they are both making good deisiel engines but i still prefer the toyota!!!!!
Which is Best? Toyota Hilux, Nissan Nivara or Holden Rodeo? The newer models that is.?
The Hilux or the Rodeo are the better vehicles by a long shot.

The V6 petrol Navara isn't too bad a truck but steer clear of the diesel model as the engines are total rubbish and have a lot of turbo lag, also the build quality is a little wanting....Well they do have Renault diesels and are built in Spain of all places.Petrol ones are still built in Japan and all nissan (i.e nice strong engine)

To buy or not to buy? 1993 BMW 525i?

My husband and I are contemplating buying a beater car to prevent putting excessive miles on our primary vehicle. The beater car in question is a 1993 BMW 525i Touring Wagon. The exterior of the vehicle is in very good condition as is the interior (with a few minor exceptions). The only thing that I am having a bit of trouble digesting is that the airbag light is on and it will not deploy if needed unless the problem has been resolved. Of course, if we bought the car, we would take the necessary steps to fix the problem but I am just wondering..

1. Is the car worth $2K in this condition? (Also, no A/C, 2 tires must be replaced...) Kelly Blue Book says it's worth about $3K...?

2. Does anyone know about how much work of this nature costs (labor to detect problem %26amp; then resolve)? Is it worth it???

Thanks!

BMW's are good cars but the parts and service are very expensive.

In order for a car to be Acura Certified Pre-Owned, does it have to be bought at an Acura dealership?

I just bought a used 2005 Acura TSX from a used car dealer that is NOT an actual Acura dealer. They told me the car was Acura Certified Pre-Owned and even charged me an extra $3,000 or so. The 'maintenance required' light turned on the other day so I guess I have to take it in to get checked out. However, while searching for an Acura dealer close to where I live, I ran into an article that made it sound like only ACURA DEALERSHIPS can sell pre-owned certified Acuras. I hope I just mis-interpreted the article or else I'm not going to be a happy camper. If you have any knowledge on this please help!!!!!!
In order for a car to be Acura Certified Pre-Owned, does it have to be bought at an Acura dealership?
If per say they sold it at an auction as a certified then yes it could be certified. If you contact the manufacturer and ask them if it is indeed a pre owned certified they should be able to tell you. Due to the fact that they have to register it in the database as being certified. Can a dealer other than Acura certify it no but as I said they may have sold it at the auction, as it may not have had any interest at the dealership it may have come from. Just call Acura the number should be in your owners manual. Or research it on the web link listed below. Yes an Acura is made by Honda.
In order for a car to be Acura Certified Pre-Owned, does it have to be bought at an Acura dealership?
Without knowing all the details of your car (mileage, the name of the dealer you purchased, etc.), I am very skeptical that your car is Acura Certifed. Here's the link to the Acura Certified Pre-owned website. It shows the certification process.

http://www.acura.com/index.aspx?initPath...

If you have all the items listed on the website, then it is probably certified. If not, the dealer took you for an extra $3000. Of course a call to Acura should confirm if your car is certified.

Should I buy a car?

With the economy the way it is now, should I go buy a car? I am going to need one for school and work this fall and this summer. I would not be using that much in gas. Should I make the splurge? It's either buying a sweet laptop or using that money for a down payment on a used car. I can always buy a laptop in the fall. I see a car I really like. It's only $ 8,000. I am still wondering if I should do it.
Should I buy a car?
Go for it as long as you are sure you will have enough money in the fall to get the laptop you need. Weigh the prices of gas with pain of taking public transportation and make a decision. Make sure to have the car checked out by a reputable mechanic to make sure that it won't be costing you money in the long run. Any reputable seller should let you do this.
Should I buy a car?
Do you really need the car or simply want one? Will the car reduce your expenditure or increase it? Have you taken into consideration the actual cost of owning a car?.... gas, maintenance, insurance...
Reply:Yeah go for it and sometime in the fall or mid summer you can start saving up and maybe ask for a little bit more cash for a new laptop... "GOOD LUCK"!!!
Reply:It sounds like you need a car to me and you have done your homework. When buying the car, see if you can get them down a bit on the price. Before purchasing, post another question with the details of the car. We might be able to help you negotiate a better price for the car. The money you save on the purchase of the car can go toward your laptop this fall.

Good luck.
Reply:Make sure you go buy during Lean season when prices are down or there are Incentives going. This would be around the time in fall when New models are introduced. If you have to do it immediately, wait for 4th of July sale.

I am assuming you have done your homework on pricing and gas mileage. You can always get a laptop from Craigslist or a Mini Notebooks that are Sub 1000 Price range.
Reply:Be careful of used cars. I feel more comfortable getting a low-mileage used car from a dealer that sells that model new. Make sure you get the balance of the warranty, and try to haggle for a 30-day fix-it-free deal if something breaks as you drive off the lot.

Financially, make sure that your payments are within your budget. Put down as much as you can, and get a loan pre-approval if you can from your bank. Be careful of the low-interest or rebate. Look at your TOTAL cost, including interest over the life of the loan--and don't trust the salesperson when they do the math in their head.

Good luck!

Reply:You could try a high spec 2nd hand 206. Great cars and the high spec cars have great performance.
Reply:Go for a low insurance group car, Group 3 for example

Reply:Go on www.autotrader.co.uk. They have loads on there but I'd advise to buy private (you can select that option on the website) because dealers always rip you off because they've got to make money too. Buy one with as little miles on the clock as possible. Anything over 40,000 miles I wouldn't bother with for 拢5000. Corsa's, Clio's and Fiesta's from not before 2004 are quite reliable and usually not too expensive to repair if anything goes wrong.
Reply:first buy one that is cheap, as all new drivers will bump into things in carparks or while parking etc, so buy a car that won't make you cry when you scrathch it or put dents in it and you will damage it. that is if you don't totally destroy it in a crash, also insurance companies know that you will damage the car one way or anther. so the premiums will be high so a cheaper car is better again. I know that will are thinking I won't damage it. but you will every one does, after you have been driving for a year or so than buy your 5,000pond one that way you would have made or those silly little mistakes that we all do make. what kind of car Toyota cheap, reliable, and they go on for ever
Reply:hey i brought a renault clio as my first car and i cant fault it, its really economical and really easy to drive!

many of my mates have got fiestas and corsas which they have all been pleased with! remember to budget for insurance too as it will be expensive if you are a young driver or learning in the car

Should I buy a new car??

I have 01 civic coupe 110kmiles, and have a 4 month old baby and I have a problem fitting a car seat in the back of my car. Access to the back seat is also not easy. My wife has a CRV so we have a larger vehicle but she works also. Should I buy a 4 door 4cyl. sedan like a Nissan Altima which has a larger trunk and back seat. I have the means to pay cash and still have an emergency funds. My car runs good and the gas mpg is great and needs only routine items from time to time, but I am not sure what to do since gas has increased to the high price level. I can buy an Altima at invoice price minus current rebate this month $1250. looking at just about 20k drive out. Should I buy a new, wait and buy or deal with the 2 door Civic?
Should I buy a new car??
Personally, I'm waiting in hopes of a new technology to arise. I would love a hydrogen, natural gas, or ethanol vehicle. I'll just wait till they are available.
Should I buy a new car??
Yes
Reply:Sounds like it's in your best interest to buy the new car........1). U got the money to pay CASH!! 2). U have problems putting in the car seat in the 01 Honda. 3). Then it wouldn't matter which car you drove, the new one or the CRV, when it came down to transporting the baby

Then you could sell the Honda and get every penny that you ask for now with the $4.00 a gallon gas situation!! Trully a win-win situation, Cuz!!!
Reply:That is the one problem with small cars. Many backward facing car seats don't fit.

Before you rush out to buy a new car, remember your child will only be riding backwards for a short period time. Not knowing the size of your child or the car seat, I would check that first, then see how the seat fits facing forward. The Altima and those deals will be around for the remainder of the year (tough year for auto sales) so there is no rush to get that car. Also you have a well maintained car that can easily eclipse 180k miles ( I have 161k on my 2000 Olds Intrigue) and it gets great gas mileage which is a great selling point (sell it privately when you are ready to sell, you'll make a killing).

IF after looking at those things I mentioned, you believe you need a new car, then go for it. the Altima will get you good gas mileage and has tons of room in the back seat. Just do some research on the CVT transmission in those cars and other Nissan products. This transmission has been around long enough that there are now reviews on its durability.

Good Luck.
Reply:myself I would go look for a dependable used car!

get a nice 4 door nissan, honda, saturn ,mazda

maybe 5 years old and 60,000 on it still lots of life in the car , dependable and about 1/4 the cost
Reply:First off see if you could swap cars with your wife and use the CRV. If not then Sell the Civic.

If the car is running great and has great gas Mileage then it should bring good Value. Try private Buyers first since you may get better price there. Only after you have sold the car, you can go get that Altima.

If you really want to trade then you will get less price for the Civic. But make sure you disclose the trade after you fixed a price on the altima.

Lastly as far as altima price is concerned, If I were to buy an Altima right now, I will get it Bellow invoice Price before any rebates are applied. Say about 500 to 1000 Bellow. All you need to do is good homework.

Try http://www.fightingchance.com. I have used it twice. Once in Winter 06 %26amp; Once this month. In 06, I got my car 2500 bellow invoice. This month my wife got hers for $125 bellow invoice for a 2009 car.
Reply:Actually there should be more rebates than that for the Altima... also try the weekend sales where there's more of a deal. Expect to spend 2+ hours at a dealership if you decide to buy... buy a new one since there's so much incentives for new cars.

Good luck... looks like you've gotten some great advice with the replies I've read...

I want to buy a Hond fit and I have 1,000 bucks for a downpayment and was wondering.......?

If I should wait 3 months and save pretty close to 3 grand for down payment and then buy one so I have a cheaper monthly payment or just buy one now and I live in VT where should I go for the best fanancing for a vehicle?
I want to buy a Hond fit and I have 1,000 bucks for a downpayment and was wondering.......?
over 60 months if you put down $1,000 your payments would be around $313 a month

$3,000 would be $274

I want to buy a Hond fit and I have 1,000 bucks for a downpayment and was wondering.......?
Talk to your local Honda dealer. This is the time of year that Honda runs their special financing. Buying now at 1.9%-3.9% (depending on how long you finance) may be cheaper then buying in 3 months when the finance rate is normal around 5.9%. Of course you have to factor in the down payment. A car like the Fit has a low depreciation rate and in high demand now.

If the dealer does not have any special finance, try a local credit union (if you are a member or your local bank). People have also had luck with loans over the internet. I'm not that brave. it's also nice to have this financing in your back pocket when negotiating with the dealer. Some dealers will match or beat bank financing if you are approved.

Talk to a dealer and find out all your options and do some math to see what will work for you.

Who do you call if you think you have been scammed by a used car dealer?

Just bought a used 2005 Acura TSX. However, I'm starting to think I was scammed because they told me it was an Acura Certified Pre-Owned vehicle despite that fact that it is not an Acura dealer. Answers to a question posted here are confirming my suspicions. Would I call the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint or just maybe get a lawyer?
Who do you call if you think you have been scammed by a used car dealer?
Welcome to the real World. Once a Honda dealer sold me a 89 Camry that promptly crapped on me in two months. Buying a used car is not an easy task. It requires a LOT of homework.

If you bought in less than 30 Days then you are eligible to return the car and get your money back. The exact time depends on each dealer.

Weather BBB will help you or not will depend on exact details. If he passed a Acura Certified car even when he was not a Acura dealer is fishy. But you are equally to blame. Hindsight is always 20-20. What'd you think you were doing ? That's the downside of not doing homework. I am not a Lawyer. But I think best a lawyer may do is get your money back. It depends on your circumstances..
Who do you call if you think you have been scammed by a used car dealer?
You can get a car certified even though they are not an exclusive dealership. Be careful, I promise the dealership does have a lawyer so if you aren't sure there is wrong doing don't make accusations. You could get burned.
Reply:Hmmm... sounds fishy, but... it'll be a fight if you are ready to fight to prove it wasn't Acura Certified Pre-Owned... that doesn't sound right. Good luck...
Reply:Acura Certified Pre-Owned vehicle

Every vehicle must pass stringent measures before it can become a Certified Pre-Owned Acura. Only well-maintained, late-model Acura vehicles are considered, and each one must pass a comprehensive 150-point inspection and a Vehicle History Report review. Virtually every mechanical system鈥攆rom the engine to the door locks鈥攊s checked and serviced to meet precise specifications, and a thorough appearance inspection scrutinizes fit and finish鈥攊nside and out鈥攖o ensure that every vehicle upholds the luxury and sophistication of the Acura name. The Acura Dealership technicians also inspect all placements of the Vehicle Identification Number to ensure that the VIN plates match. In addition, the VIN is researched for open service campaigns.

He asked her if she wanted to drive it and she got all excited and said yes so he grabbed her hand and put it on the wheel. He said, "Okay, that is probably the closest to driving it that you will ever get." Guess I don't blame him being that this is like the 4th wreck my sister has had. Yeah, the price is way out of what I'd probably ever pay and once my sister told me their payments I nearly fell out of my chair. With the price of gas the way it is I couldn't see paying that!

Funny but when he got home with it the neighbor was outside so he proudly asks, "So, what do you think of my new toy?" Her answer, " Looks like a menopause thing to me." and she gets up and walks in the house. My sister said he stood there with his mouth open. LUV IT!

How to sell a car you're still making payments on?

How do I privately sell my car that I still have a loan for? I live in CT if that makes a difference.
How to sell a car you're still making payments on?
To sell a car you're still making payments on, have the buyer either pay the bank directly, or pay you so you can pay off the loan.

If the car has a lien, the original title will be mailed from the bank to whoever paid them for the car. Buyers of cars with liens can get temporary operating permits from the DMV, using the bill of sale.
How to sell a car you're still making payments on?
If your loan is through a regular lender that has an office you can go to, you and the buyer can go to their office and the buyer can give them certified funds to pay the vehicle off. The lender will then give you the title and you will transfer it to the buyer. If the lender is not local, you would need to give the buyer a bill of sale with the provision included that you will forward the title upon receipt. You would take their funds and overnight them to the lender and see if they can priority mail your title to you. You would then complete the transaction with the buyer. It is most important that the buyer get a bill of sale. Your local DMV should have a form available on their website with a sample bill of sale. Note that some buyers will not agree to such a transaction if they have to wait for a title. I ran into that problem once. I did eventually sell to someone who understood how it works. Another option is if you have a 401K plan, you could borrow the money to pay the vehicle off and then pay the 401K loan off when you sell the vehicle.

Co-Signers?

Hey, i was wondering if it is possible at all to have my sister co-sign on a vehicle for me. The only thing is she currently lives in virginia and i live in colorado. Any info would help. thanks
Co-Signers?
Two reasons why you would have a co-signer... not enough credit history or bad bad credit.

Before you have a co-signer especially family... it's impearitive that payments on your "new" car gets paid on time...

She can co-sign... depending on your states jurisdiction. Call a dealership with that question and check to see that they will allow out of state co-signers.
Co-Signers?
If she is willing. But it will depend on if the loan officer is willing to do all the faxing and footwork.

Altima Coupe of Volvo C30?

I might get either of these cars for my first car. Which one is bettter? (Base models of both)
Altima Coupe of Volvo C30?
Altima Coupe because of the maintenance cost factors for a major verses a Volvo C30... better gas mileage and better ratings.... it depends what you are looking for or concentrating on what you like...
Altima Coupe of Volvo C30?
I prefer the Volvo C30. Though the Altima Coupe may be more reliable, it is designed so bland that you could loose it in a parking lot. The Volvo will manage to turn heads because of its trendy, iconic styling. Not to mention the fact of Volvo safety. Also, the interior design is purely Scandinavian charm. An amazingly simple radio, and climate system that still manages to look cool. A nice factor about this car which the Nissan does not have is the lack of blind spots. The Volvo has a large glass panel on the back showing how far the thing you are about to back into is away. Also, the read seats are actually functional. I don't know if the Infiniti G37 is essentially an Altima, but if it is, it has virtually zero headroom. The Volvo placed captains chars in the rear leaving equally comfort to people in the rear, as well as the front.

If you would like another option, the new Honda Accord Coupe is very attractive. In a test conducted by Edmunds.com, the Honda Accord Coupe destroyed the Nissan Altima Coupe. Here is a picture of the Accord Coupe:

Can A Japanese Car Import Be Shipped To Canada?

Yes, you can import Japanese cars to Canada. However, according to Canadian laws, only cars more than 15 years old can be legally imported. That means your car has to be manufactured before 1993.

But that's not a problem as the most popular imports to Canada include the classic speed demon Nissan Skyline R32 GTR and GTST. There's also Toyota Supra 1993 and before.

sometimes you can get a deal from a repo office. like anything else you have to use your noodle.
Has anyone bought a car from Mr. Repo? Im looking for a reliable and cheap car.?
I got my first car off a government auction. Cost all of $1800 I think but then that's all I could afford. I've still got it in my garage as a sign of 'those times'. Don't use it anymore.

Try a combination of Craigslist + repo car auctions to get a cheap car. It works for the short term.

ok so theres this silver srt-4 im looking at from a dealership and want to know if its a good deal or if i should try and haggle the price a bit

heres what its got:

Sticker Price: $17,400

year: 2004

miles: 27,XXX

color: silver

Mods: carbon fiber hood, Magnaflow exhaust, lowered, eye lids, front and rear strut bars, turbo timer, Mopar bov

it might have some more mods but thats all i could see right away from just looking at it and driving it

the body itself is in perfect condition, no knicks or anything

i like the mileage a lot too :]

but yea do you guys think i should go for it?
Should I buy this Srt-4?
It's generally a rule to not buy modded cars because you don't know the quality of the work and it could be a money pit.

[Edit to the guy below: The Caliber has an SRT version of it's own which is faster than the Neon SRT-4]
Should I buy this Srt-4?
Yes, the SRT-4 is highly underrated. Right when this car was getting popular, Diamler was dumb as usual and replaced it with the crappy Caliber that really only finds its way to a Hertz Rental Car Parking Lot.

Am I getting a good deal???

I was at the Nissan dealer late last night and I left knowing this deal was on the table. My fiance and I both have 700+ credit. We are trading in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 48,000 miles owing $6400 on it still and a 2000 Chrysler Concorde in Fair/Good condition with 100,000 miles worth $1000-$2000. We would be getting into 36 month leases for the following vehicles : 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5SL loaded (everything but navigation) and a 2008 Nissan Rogue SL AWD loaded (everything but navigation). The dealer started with a combined payment of $1000/month and by the time we left last night he was down to around $750/month without any money down but the trades and the first payment. I plan on going back, is this a good deal for these 2 vehicles????
Am I getting a good deal???
No. I don't know what the prices of the new cars are, but you have around 3500 equity on the jeep and say 1500 on the chrysler. Thats almost 5000 down. Using a lease calculator, I came up with around 1000 a month with NO $ DOWN. Adding in the 5000 it goes to 800 a month. That is paying sticker price, which you are dumb if you do. As a former car salesman, I can tell you never shop by payment. Always shop price, because payment can be manipulated easily.

What is a really good lease deal right now for a small 4 cylinder car?

I am a colllege student so I can't afford to pay over $200 a month. I'm trying to find a good deal for a small car...fuel efficient 4 cylinder car...or is it a better idea to attempt to buy a car and pay monthly payments? although I heard thats not a good idea bcuz of negative equity...
What is a really good lease deal right now for a small 4 cylinder car?
You have to go used and DO NOT LEASE! Also, NEVER shop for a car in payments. Shop in total price.

Is 212,000 miles on a 1999 ford explorer bad? a lot?

DO NOT BUY IT

You know usually most cars get 100,000 in 10 years no 212,000 in 9
Is 212,000 miles on a 1999 ford explorer bad? a lot?
Yes, When buying a Car I don't buy anything over 100,000 miles... anything near it is ok....but once you hit 200K BiG repairs could be on the way
Reply:it is quite a lot but it shouldn't affect the way the car works just make sure it is up to date on mots and that nothing has been a problem with it.

hope this helps
Reply:If you are buying a pickup truck, I think you could get a terrific deal from a regular dealer on new or next to new. The people who rent vehicles are turning them in after the three year lease and not buying the leased truck due to gasoline inflation. Take someone with you to the car lot, if you decide to buy from a dealer. The '99 Explorer with 212,000 is not a winning deal for you.
Reply:Yes, honestly that is alot of miles on a vehicle. If you were to buy it, it probably would not last long and then you would have to put another engine in it and depending on if you buy that new or used it could cost up to like $4,000 to $5,000. I would look for something with less miles unless you really like the vehicle and willing to put a new motor in it.

Shoul I buy this car?

Hello,

I'm considering to buy a 2007 vehicle privately. The vehicle is in good condition (and good price) and I already got the Vehicle History Report; the vehicle has a clean record.

I'm ready to make an offer however there is one problem: the seller is 'selling' the vehicle on behalf of a friend that recently moved to another city; therefore, the seller is not the registered owner.

I asked the seller about this and he showed me that his friend

already signed the 'Application for Transfer'.

I was thinking that I should ask the seller for a 'Power of Attorney' stating the he has the rights to sell the car.

What do you think? Anyone with a similar experience?

Thanks!
Shoul I buy this car?
I personaly think that you shouldnt buy it.

What if HE wrote the signature and his friend is on vacation or something?
Shoul I buy this car?
If they are selling this for someone else yes they should in fact have a power of attorney to sell the car. If I was going to do it without the power of attorney, which I probally wouldnt do anyway, but if I was, I would NOT pay cash, I would write a check written to the person on the title. Id think about this before you do it!~
Reply:I would check into this more, never know it could be a scam and believe me i know how real and true scams can seem, i have been there. I would ask for more information on the person selling the car and also you might check with DMV. Does the price seem reasonable for the vehicle? Well i hope this helps, good luck.
Reply:i just got a car (about 2weeks ago) where the reg owner (A)had released the car (by signin it) to her friend (B), who was selling the car for her... I had no problems with that, B wrote a statement with the amount which he was selling the car, we both signed it and dated it... we wanted to go to a pub notary, but they were closed that day... so we just left it like that, when i went to put the car under my name i had no prob, i just showed the letter and that was it... now, in your case, since you will be paying alot more than me, i think u should take as many precautions as possible... im not sure about the legal aspects of it... but at least try to get documents signed by a notary... good luck...

Invoice question?

O.k my husband had struts done on his car and the car has been making a weird noise when I turn right. so...he told me to take it back to the place where he originally got the struts done and to bring the reciept. well, I found an invoice that has the down payment and the rest of the cost. is that good enough or does it suppose to have something like paid in full on it?

Thanx!
Invoice question?
That should be enough to show they did the work. However, it may not have been the work they did that is causing the noise. If you are unsure, have it checked by another shop. An inspection is usually free.

Can I trade in one car that $11K is still owed and a truck that is paid for to cover the cost of the 1st car?
Maybe, it really depends on the dealership that you choose, but any dealership should give you close to the 11k.
Can I trade in one car that $11K is still owed and a truck that is paid for to cover the cost of the 1st car?
If your figures are trade in value, then maybe. If your figures are retail, no.

The dealer has to make a profit, so he can't buy your car(s) at full retail value.

If I owe $16k on my car and get $14k for it, will I owe the bank $2,000, like a personal loan? Hows it work?

I am selling my car to a private seller, and will be upside down about $2000 - $2500. Do I have to pay that off to the bank once the title is moved to new owner, how does it work?
If I owe $16k on my car and get $14k for it, will I owe the bank $2,000, like a personal loan? Hows it work?
yes you will still owe that to the bank. There will also be a fee for paying off the loan early or a transfer fee.
If I owe $16k on my car and get $14k for it, will I owe the bank $2,000, like a personal loan? Hows it work?
You must keep paying the bank until "YOUR" loan is satisfied.
Reply:You will have to pay the car in full to sell it because the bank will not release it's lean on it until then and the new owner will not be able to transfer the title to their name.
Reply:You are what they call "backwards" in the car. The entire loan balance will need to be paid in full before the bank will release the title. So to sell your car you will need to come up with the difference. Good luck.

Does anyone have any information on leasing a car?

does anyone know anything about leasing a car. how it works. i heard you have to put 1,000 - 1500 down which I have. i just dont know what else to expect. do you have to have good credit, how long do you lease a car, etc. any info would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
Does anyone have any information on leasing a car?
Leasing a car is a good option for many people with good credit who want to drive the latest technology, and always have a car under warranty. Generally speaking, yes, you need good to excellent credit to make a lease worthwhile, but if you have this, you want to put as little money down as possible. The reason for this is that if you get in a wreck, you can't get this money back. I have leased two or three cars where I didn't put down anything except my first month's payment of $275. It IS possible to get a no-money down lease. Just negotiate with your dealer.

The difference between buying and leasing a car is that with leasing, you're paying for the difference between the purchase price and the residual value (the amount you'd get for trading it in three years from the purchase date).

Another advantage to a lease is that your residual value is guaranteed by the leasing company. Many large SUV leasees are looking pretty good right now, because while their residual may have dropped substantially, they will be able to walk away from the car without losing anything when the lease term is up.

Be careful, though. Do NOT enter a lease for any more than 39 months, in my opinion. It's just not a good option. Also, remember to negotiate the price of the car first, and then base the lease payment off of that. Be sure you also understand the factors that go into a lease payment, which include money factor (which is your interest rate divided by 24. For instance, if you're getting a money factor of .003, your interest rate is 7.2%) and your residual value. Normal residual is 50-60% over 36 months.

Great leasing cars are those that get good residual value, like Hondas and Toyotas. Also look for leasing specials as these are incentivised interest rates. Good luck!

Autoloan bad credit? decline even with 50% down!?

So I need a new car bad! I have bad credit, went through a bad divorce, stuff added up fast....

Well the hunk of junk i'm driving now is on its last leg and I need a new reliable car that gets better gas mileage.

I applied for a loan for an 8k car offered to put 50% down and STILL got declined! How can I get a car loan?
Autoloan bad credit? decline even with 50% down!?
You don't need a car loan you need a car. Sell the piece of crap car and take the money plus the $4000 cash that you say you have and go buy yourself a nice used car.

There are plenty of good solid used cars out there for $4500. All you have to do is look for them.
Autoloan bad credit? decline even with 50% down!?
You should go to Enterprise.. Where they rent cars ,, they also sell cars really cheap I probably have the worst credit ever and got approved for a 08 model
Reply:Do you have a judgment or repo on your credit? Sometimes those ellicit automatic turndowns, and right now's credit crunch isn't helping you.

I agree with the above advice, I'd go find a $4500 vehicle and get through the rough part now, then worry about an auto loan later.
Reply:You will find the economy isnt helping you either.

I am married and my wife and I have an excellent credit rating with no defaults ever.

We are both managers and had an existing personal loan with a bank and went to borrow another $7k to consolidate a credit card and to put toward our wedding.

We are already paying more off our loan than what we would be paying if we were approved.

We were declined for the loan, so I went for the loan on my own, of $7k and was declined again.

Damn US economy reflects on the whole world.
Reply:When my husband and I seperated he lost his Pickup, well when we got back together it came up on my credit as well.Anyways the only place that would take us is Auto Sales and Finance.I dont know if they have that in your area, but if you can find one they will take you.We have very bad credit, but with 2500 down on a used Grand Prix for 8000 grand we were able to have a car with payments of 250.They will work with you if you explain your situation, and you have a good job.Go to autosalesandfinance.com or L2auto.com is another place that takes people with bad credit.
Reply:Well, if can afford to pay 4K deposit, cut your expectations a little and buy a car that costs 4K to 4.5K, good used cars are OK. Just get them checked by auto engineer before you buy.
Reply:I used to sell cars and there's a few options. Unfortunately all too often I ran into people who had gone through a divorce and their credit was messed up.

One of the people below suggested a good used car. That's certainly a choice. But if you put a lot of miles on a car you're starting out in a hole, because a car that costs $4,500 is gonna have at least 80k to 100+k miles on it.

You have a couple other choices. One is to apply for a loan on your own, outside of the dealership, with a lender that specializes in giving loans (and chances) to people with bad credit. One such company is RoadLoans.

I had a friend with a bankruptcy (and more) on her credit and they approved her no problem. They send you a check that you take to the dealership and use to purchase a car.

Here's a quick link to RoadLoans if you want to check them out:

http://gdlckjoe.com/clk.aspx?l=12265%26amp;c=3...

You're other alternative is to try a "Buy Here, Pay Here" lot. Someone like a DriveTime (and maybe Enterprise as the guy said below).

Drive time has a variety of cars. Some have miles on them, some are newer. But they finance the vehicles themselves, so they don't turn anyone away. THEY ARE THE BANK, and their specialty is bad credit loans.

DriveTime is not in every state and I don't know what state you're in so you'll want to check that out first before filling out an application. Here's a quick link to DriveTime if you want it:

http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-2345738-104...

Finally, here's some advice for you. Whatever you buy, DON'T KEEP IT. The interest rate is guaranteed to be really high. But if you make ALL your payments on time for about 18 payments (NOT months) your credit will be getting back on track and you'll be able to buy a newer car for a lot less interest.

Plus when you pay off a large debt your score goes up, so trading out of the vehicle after a year and a half will boost your score significantly.

Hope all this information helps!

For more like it you can visit my website at www.1-800badcredit.com

Good luck to you!
Reply:Don't!!! Buy a 4k car and rebuild your credit.
Reply:Finding a bad credit auto lender take a little bit of work to find the right one. When looking to buy a new or used car, the dealer may offer bad credit financing, or refer you to a lender. Car buyers should consider arranging their own financing. Bad credit auto loans are simple yet complicated and some lenders will try to take%26lt;!--advantage of you. It helps to know your available options. Before applying for a car loan, try to get a copy of your personal credit report. Lenders base approval on your credit score and credit history. Some lenders classify sub prime borrowers as persons with scores below say 700. On the other hand, another lender may qualify a borrower with the same score for prime rates.

http://best-loans.awardspace.com/autoloa...

http://best-loans.awardspace.com/auto.ht...

Unless you have a 700 or higher credit score, it might be a good idea to look at your credit report and see what you can do to improve your credit score. A 700 score will get you the best rates at the best loan terms. Any credit score higher will not change what a lender can offer you, since you will already qualify for the best loan deal. Where you will start having trouble is if you fall below a credit score of 700. When you fall below--%26gt;lenders see you as a risk and will start charging higher interest rates in order to offset the risk.At this point your only options are to seek a bad credit lender or get to work on fixing your credit score. There are a number of quick things to do to improve your credit rating and get the loan you need at the rate you want.
Reply:see first of all bad credit no matter if your credit history is good according to that you will get a loan, but try for some online sources they provide car loans for people have bad credit and also with a low interest rates, try to contact them and get your problem resolved, for your reference try http://www.carloan123.net my one of friend had recently get a car loan from there for bad credit and also with a low interest rates, you may try this source.

I am planning on getting my first car next year what car should a 17 yr old get and how much gas money should?
Get the CHEAPEST Car you can FIND- that gets the BEST gas mileage. Forget about how it looks. And FORGET how OLD it is. For a FIRST Car, you just want something that RUNS, is "cheap" to Own, %26amp; is not gonna cost you a fortune in Insurance. How much You "Save" -will depend on how CLOSE you can get to the Specifications I mentioned. If You find a real "Bargain", -it could "save you" from having to go out %26amp; get a third job to pay for it !!! :)

Saturn's are good and cheap. $You should be able to get a nice one for $3000-$5000
Reply:that depends on how much you want to spend on the car,but have at least a good 2 or 3 grand down, mor would be better. On a car the average person spends 40 a week on gas,if you have a job to go,and visiting family and friends. If it has great gas mileage and you dont waste you gas just cruseing then you can make the gas money stretch an extra week. But plane on spending at least 160 a month on gas.
Reply:the best car would be either a Honda Civic or a Toyota Corolla. they're reliable, safe and good on gas.

And the average person spends about 30 dollars a week on gas, but if your smart and walk as much as you can, and drive less, you'll be able to run off 20 dollars a week.

I wouldn't spend more than $11,000 on it unless it has had every required service (esp the 100k one). Generally the 540's are less reliable and break down alot more than the other 5 series.
I want to buy BMW 540i 1999 model and 117000 miles ran plz tell me what is the best price for this car?
the best price for this car would be free, anything more and it is no longer the best price
Reply:5-series cars depreciate like crazy. 1999 5-series can be purchased cheaper than 3-series.

But be prepared to spend some serious money on repairs, maintenance, and general nuisances. Reliability is poor. The car is over engineered.

If you really are interested in purchasing one, first go to some of the BMW user forums. You'll get the picture.

Should I keep or sell my Volvo S60?

I have a 2004 volvo s60 2.5t with 59000 miles on it. I'm reallllly interested in the new BMW x6 but all of my friends think I should keep it since it's paid off and is my only gas efficient vehicle. What do you think? Should I keep my volvo or sell it?

Should I keep or sell my Volvo S60?
If it's silver, keep it.
Reply:You should give it to me...lol How big of a difference is the gas mileage. I like the vovlo's myself so I would keep it.
Reply:wow u should sell it, and buy the S70 but not the one made by gm.. buy the one made by volvo lol we used to have the 5cylinder one turbo! was awsome.. i like bmw, but volvo and saab are more like family cars... saab 95 is the most gangta car ive ever seen! in truth, u know what you want man... if u want the bmw, i say man, go 4 it!!!!!!!
Reply:It really depends on money. If you can afford a down payment without the Volvo, go for it. I've always loved the S60's. It was actually on my list of euro sedans when I was car shopping 3 years ago. Dont think Ide ever get rid of an S60 once I got one. Kinda the way I feel about my 9-3 Aero. I'll always keep her even when I do want a new car.

Can I ask why the X6? I personally think those things are beyond ugly. If your going to snobsville and buying a BMW why not be classy about it and get a 330 series or the new 1 series?

Personally, I feel there are tons of better choices in that price range. For 50K+ I would come out with a way sweeter car than the X6. Keep looking is my advice :)

A 95-98 Mercedes VS 00-04 Cavaliers etc.?

Hi,

I am a young guy with a small budget, so to speak.

Now my question would be; Would it be a good idea to get a 95-98 Mercedes over say a newer Cavalier, Sunfire etc?

I can buy a 1997 mercedes c230 for $4500-5000 I haven't heard back from the guy yet, but would assume the KM's would be somewhere between 150-200k.

Or I could get something like a $5000 02-03 Cav with 100k.

I love the class, the comfort etc that comes with a Mercedes - but at the same time am scared an older car is going to die on me. And I'm aware that to fix a Mercedes it takes a bit of a deep pocket.

Whereas the Cav has a lot less KM's, would probably be less to fix etc.

I am only really planning on driving X car for 1-2 years tops, to get used to driving and to basically crash it (seeing as how most first car buyers do). After that year or so I plan on buying a brand new car since I will have some experience.

So the car only needs to last me comfortably 1-2 years.

I would appreciate any info on this,

Thanks!
A 95-98 Mercedes VS 00-04 Cavaliers etc.?
Better really think about how much $$$ you will need to maintain your car. That Mercedes will cost a lot of money.
A 95-98 Mercedes VS 00-04 Cavaliers etc.?
Because you mention "small budget" don't even bother with the Mercedes. Stay with American until you can buy a Mercedes with a new car warranty! Every thing on these cars are $$$.

Are the prices of trucks and SUV vehicles going down enough that it would be worth waiting for before buying?

Yes, with gas prices going through the roof, they are going to drop prices on larger vehicles as incentive to sell them. You'll probably be able to get great deals soon from dealerships, and also from private sellers.
Are the prices of trucks and SUV vehicles going down enough that it would be worth waiting for before buying?
Thats what I heard on the news
Are the prices of trucks and SUV vehicles going down enough that it would be worth waiting for before buying?
The prices are only going down because the prices of gas are going up. Before you buy, calculate how much gas you consume and see how much the change in gas price will hurt you.
Reply:We just bought a chrysler Aspen and got an amazing deal. We got it fully loaded (leather, navigation and so much more). They offered thousands off and low interest rates. We ended up out the door for a beautiful SUVaround $33,000

Is there any car delearship that i can trust?

you can trust pretty much any new car dealership.
Is there any car delearship that i can trust?
Heck no! They are in it for the money, not to make friends. Don't be fooled by any of them!
Is there any car delearship that i can trust?
NO, they are out to get your money you want to keep as much as you can. their your bf before the sale don't know who you are after sale
Reply:The majority of new car dealerships can be trusted. The dealer ship can be further checked through your BBB and consumer affair's office. Remember it takes only one individual to make any business look bad. If you don't like the way procedure's are handled, speak up and go to management.
Reply:I used to sell cars and the truth is, NO, you really can't trust them. In the end they are out to sell a car and make money, and if they can do it by tricking you (and sometimes outright lie to you) they will. That's why I got out of the industry. My conscience wouldn't let me do it any more!

That being said, not all salesmen (or women) are BAD, some are very pleasantand really DO try to be ethical. It's just that they are hard to find.

There ARE some things you can do to be prepared before going out though.

One is to get pre-approved for a loan. This way the dealership can't lie to you and push up the interest rate (believe it or not they get a percentage of whatever they can get you to agree to ABOVE what the bank sets as the "norm.").

The other is to learn the tricks they use.

Visit this blog site and read these articles. It exposes the tricks salespeople use to make you think you're getting a deal when you're not.

Here's a quick link to the actual articles:

http://bad-credit-help.org/blog1800badcr...
Reply:Define trust. All dealerships are out there to make money. Heck, all businesses are out there to make money. Just do your research on the car you want, know what price you should be paying and don't let them push you around. Don't be afraid to walk away from a deal if it's not right.
Reply:Yes, there are plenty. But frankly it starts with you, if you go in lying about a trade or a quote, a good salesman will pick up on it and you are in for a bad experience. If you go in with your cards on the table, MOST of the time you'll be fine.

It also depends on what kind of car you are looking for. Some brands have fierce competition, and that breeds liars and cheaters just to get ahead.

Almost any highline dealer will treat you right, but if you are not buying highline, ask your friends who they used at a certain dealer, a referral is always treated right.
Reply:No If Ur Gonna Buy A Car never buy a new one cuz the very second u buy at lets say $30000 Ur Not gonna be able to sell at the same price no matter wat just buy a new one well thats my opinion.

Jeep for $8,000?

I want to buy a jeep for that the guy is asking $8,000 for. it definitely is worth 8000 plus but the bank will only loan me 6800 for it. i have enough money for 8 but i don't want to loose out in the long run. how should i go about trying to get less money? I have thought about telling him about the banks worth and then say i will give him 300 dollars as well. so total is 7100?

What would you say to get less or do??
Jeep for $8,000?
Go make the dude your best offer %26amp; tell him that's all you could come up with. G'luck.
Jeep for $8,000?
The bank did NOT say it was worth that amount, they said that is the amount they will loan on it, totally different thing.

$8,000 vehicle, you pay 15% down, or $1,200 and the balance is...$6.800, just what the bank will loan.

If you offer him $7,100 for an $8,000 car, you won't get a car, simple as that.
Reply:money is tight offer him $6,000

yes we have, we purchaed 2 cars from them, one was a 05 dodge grand caravan with 65,000 miles on it when we bought it, we got it for 9000 which is a pretty damn good price

the 2nd car we got was a 05 nissan altima 2.5s it had 48,000 miles on when we bought it, we got it for 9500 which is also a pretty damn good price!

what you can do is one night before the auction they have a catalog avaliable with all the cars, go to www.acauction.com, find where it says catalog and u can see theyre inventory before you go, they auction certain cars at different times. you will need to put 100 dollars down if you purchase a car so take some cash with you,im pretty sure you can get a nice bmw for a gr8 price

Is it a good idea to refinance an auto loan? If I do, can I still trade in my car at anytime?

It is a good idea if you can get a better rate or if your just trying to lower your payment.

You always have the option to sell whenever you want but in today's market, you might owe more than your car is worth.

To check, the best way is to go to Carmax and have them put a bid on your car. Compare that to what you owe and it will show you if you have negative equity or not.

DO NOT let a local dealer give you the number as they will always be lower. Carmax pays more than dealers or wholesalers for pre-owned cars.
Is it a good idea to refinance an auto loan? If I do, can I still trade in my car at anytime?
yes and no.

If you can save significantly on the interest, then it can be OK.

BUT

Do NOT extend the term! A lot of people refinance their car and then stretch it out to the longest term possible to get a lower payment. When you do that, you end up giving back all of your savings, and then some, because you are paying even LONGER on the car. If you lower your payment by $25, but stretch the term 18 more months, then your savings gets flushed away. PLUS you stay upside down even longer, making it harder to trade out.

So, if you do refinance, don't extend the term. If you only have 30 months to go, then refinance for 30 months. Keep your eye on the big picture too
Is it a good idea to refinance an auto loan? If I do, can I still trade in my car at anytime?
That depends on your situation. There are many factors that go into a good refinance deal, and few can tell you whether its a good idea or not without more details.

Overall, it's always worth a shot. Brokers will run your application for free and tell you what kind of deals you can get.

You can sell your car at any point you'd like. But it'd look kinda weird to have one car loan, then another for like a month and then no car payment.

Does GM still offer their 24 hour test drive?

Specifically for a Buick Enclave. Do you pay or what? Thanks.
Does GM still offer their 24 hour test drive?
Depends on the dealership, but I would say yes, we do here at my dealership, chevrolet in cincinnati.
Does GM still offer their 24 hour test drive?
They do not in Cali but if your really wanting to test a car out Carmax gives you 5 days to exchange.
Reply:Certain Dealers do, others don't. I was at Nationwide Infiniti in Baltimore a couple of months ago looking at the G37, they said I could take it for the entire weekend. I was at BMW of Towson (avoid if possible), the dealer where I already bought two cars from, looking at the 335i, they said I could not even drive it to my house that was 5 Miles Away. Talk about a crappy dealership. I have no clue how they became one of the top dealers, and largest on the east coast. Never shop there.

Which car should I sell? 02 Maxima or 05 Galant?

I have to sell one or my cars so I'm seeking some professional advice on whicih car I should sell. The 02 maxima has 72,000 miles on it and the 05 Galant has 46,000 miles on it. They both are in great condition and I love both. It's not a money thing because I know both cars can sell quickly. I want to know which is a better car and which willl last in the long run? By the way It is a 4 cylinder Galant.

All I can give you is just my "personal" opinion (for what it is worth, LOL)....

I've had 2 Nissan Maximas: 1987 and 1994. The 87 had the timing chain go out, so it was let go in 2001. The 94 I still have with it's 180k miles, 25 mpg. I am leasing (could not afford to buy) a 2006 Nissan Murano since my hubby needed a vehicle that could carry his wheelchair, had good legroom, and was of the seat height that hubby could "swing" into the cab of the car. I kept the old Nissan as a "backup" vehicle for the family (Ma, Pa, Sis %26amp; family, Bothers and familys), and it's been used quite a few times while other vehicles were in the shop. Very happy I've kept it.

I think why the 94 Nissan has done well is because I have religiously changed out the oil and filter on the car approx 4x per year (Mar 31, Jun 30, Sep 30, Dec 31), and that has helped it run smooth. New tires every 2-3 yrs good, too.

That is my opinion, keep the Nissan. I'd keep an eye on the timing chain... =)

Reply:the people below seriously dont know jack about cars. your maxima even though it has more mileage is worth more then your 05 galant, the galant was one of those cheap piece of crap cars you can get cheapp. the maxima is a gr8 car, v6, fun to drive, way better resale value then a galant and it will last you longer then your galant, sell the galant and keep the maxima
Reply:Sell the Galant. It is only at the three year old mark, after it reaches four, the resale value will tank. The sooner you get rid of it, the more money you can get. Even though the Maxima is older, it will most definitely last longer with less repairs and a higher resale value.

I priced out the Kelley Blue Book of Both, and a Nissan Maxima Base Model with 72,000 Miles, in the Zip Code of 21030 in Excellent Condition would be Worth $8940. The Galant on the other hand, DE Model, 46,000, Excellent Condition, in the 21030 Zip Code would be worth $8885.

Good Luck
Reply:You will get more money for the Galant, plus you could use the money to keep your maxima looking and running good. for a lifetime.
Reply:Keep your Nissan. It is alot better quality than the Mitsu and is more comfortable and more reliable.

HOW Can I sell A Car I OWE ON ... Can I get MY Title???
you would have to pay the car off before you can get the title, meaning hopefully you can sell it for at least what you owe on it. good luck
HOW Can I sell A Car I OWE ON ... Can I get MY Title???
Only to a dealer on a trade in and they work with you. Nobody will buy a car from you if you don't have a clear title.
Reply:I run a dealership and sometimes people in this situation sell the car to the dealer like a trade in execpt you don't buy anything. This way the dealer can get title for the car. This only works if your cars value is equal or better than the loan payoff. Otherwise you need to pay the difference to the dealer.

Otherwise, the person who buys the car from you would send the money to the bank who has the title. The bank will not release title until the car is paid in full and will take at least ten days for making sure the check clears.

Hope this helps.
Reply:You can sell the car to who ever you like. That is why i like to deal local. If the place is local then the buyer goes with you to the finance person and pays them off first and you what ever is above that if any. Then fills out the papers to get the title transfered into thier name. A little more if not local but call your finance company and they can explain.

What is a cute sports car with good gas mileage?

I am trying to sell my truck that I love, to save money on gas. Because of the prices of gas my truck is worth very little so I was thinking if I can drive a used sports car in the summer and the truck in the winter I would still save money. I like BMW Z3, Chevy Corvette and Camero. I know there are a ton of great cars out there and want some more to look into. As far as cost I would like to spend under $10,000.00. I know I won鈥檛 save as much money having two cars but I still will save some. My commute to work is far, I spend more than $350.00 a month in gas alone.

What is a cute sports car with good gas mileage?
well if you have calculated and you think you are gonna save more money...

(meaning your new car payment + gas on the new car = less than truck's gas) than it would be a good idea to get a new car. if you want a cute sports car maybe go for a Toyota Celica GTS or something even. You can get a 90's BMW 3 series 2 door as well for under $10k.

These can all be had for under $10K if they are used. But, even used, they can be very high mileage %26amp; still cost alot of $$. That is because they are reliable and have always had good resale value. Avoid all Korean made cars like Kia %26amp; Hyundai. They are money pits %26amp; usually die very soon.
