I'm a chick and I don't know tooooo much about what goes on under the hood but I have good exterior taste. I like sports cars and trucks and I don't want an old recycled family vehicle. I'm young so I want something fun to drive. My only issue is that work is far away so I need good gas mileage so a truck is really out of the picture unless it gets 20+ mpg. I currently drive a 94 mustang but it's getting a bit shotty so I'm thinking of trading up. I'd like to stick with an American make, unless its a porsche or something, but no VW, Nissan, or Toyota. It's gotta be an eye-catcher. Older years are good because I'm looking to buy used and cheap-ish (under 6k). Please recommend!
What kinds of cars would suit me?
I drive a Cobalt SS Supercharged.. and I love it!
What kinds of cars would suit me?
Honda Civic or Ford Focus
Reply:a different mustang or a firebird, or camaro
Reply:it will be hard to find an eye catcher with great gas mileage that isn't shotty for under 6k... but um, you could get like a used mitsubishi eclipse maybe?? or i would say jetta but ur against vw apparently.. sry but u will find no porsche or fancy car for this kind of money... lol
Reply:Small American cars:
Dodge Neon
Ford Focus
Ford Aspire
Chevy Cobalt
Chevy Aveo
can't think of any more unless you wanna go real old, like Chevettes and Dodge Omni and stuff like that.
Reply:It's going to be hard to come in under your budget, but you can try. Why not a Honda Civic Si (older one)? It's no domestic, but at least all of them have looked decent or even nice, are far more reliable than any American make and get excellent fuel economy. Plus, they are fun to drive. Domestics of the last 10-20 years tend to have very, very bad reliability. Trucks are the best of the American vehicles but get really bad fuel economy and hurt alot at the pumps. If you're not sure about what kind of car you want, you should check out reliability ratings by buying a Consumer Reports Car Guide- they really will help you.
Oh, and by the way, the Ford Focus looks cool to me. They are far less reliable than a Honda Civic, but it is one of the few American models of many years to be fun-to drive and agile.
Hope this helps!

Reply:sporty...eye catching...fun to drive... decent gas mileage... domestic... relatively cheap. Sounds to me like you want another V6 Mustang. You could look at a V6 Camaro or Firebird as well. A Focus SVT (it's a hatchback with a 6 speed and sport suspension) would probably fit the bill, but they're VERY hard to find.
