Im looking 4 a new car , witch im going to get from a gradge is it right that i cant just go in and drive off?
you should be able to take the car if you have paid for it in full etc and it has road tax and insurance.

from a Garage OR Car dealer
Im looking 4 a new car , witch im going to get from a gradge is it right that i cant just go in and drive off?
If it's a brand new car you will more than likely have to order it. If, however, it's a used car you can drive it away so long as it has a current MOT, log book and you have arranged insurance cover (get a quote first - you will need car registration number, then ring back later if you buy the car and accept the quote) and have paid for it other than by cheque. :0)
Reply:If you mean brand new, and they have it in stock, then you have to pay for it, including time for a cheque to clear, and give them a valid insurance certificate for registration something like 24 hours before driving away
Reply:HELLO

IT MAY DEPEND ON HOW YOU ARE GOING TO PAY

IF PRE REGISTERED IT DEPENDS IF YOU ARE GOING TO PAY BY BANKERS DRAFT THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY

IF THEY SAY YOU HAVE TO WAIT IS IT FOR A CHEQUE TO CLEAR? (4-5 WORKING DAYS)

IF THE CAR IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD YOU DON'T NEED AN MOT

IF IT'S OVER 3 YEARS OLD YOU NEED AN MOT

THE CAR MUST BE INSURED FOR YOU BEFORE YOU CAN DRIVE IT.

HOW NEW IS NEW?

IF BRAND NEW THEN NO YOU CAN'T AS IT HAS TO BE REGISTERED AND TAXED FIRST

What is the procedure when you trade off your old car for a new car from a dearlership?

more than likely your old car goes to the auto auction unless it is exceptional..
What is the procedure when you trade off your old car for a new car from a dearlership?
You finalize the Price of New car. Deduct the Price of the Trade In from that. Either pay the final amount or finance it. Pay for Tax Title %26amp; registration on the new car. Hand over key and title to old car and drive away the new car.

What you drive and patriotism?

Does what you drive show a sign of Patriotism or lack there of?

In many countries American cars are not sold and in order to import them into the country you have to pay an enormous tax somewhere between 50 to 100% the cost of the car itself. That means a $35,000 Dodge Charger R/T would after taxes cost you around $70,000, because foriegn countries find it UNPATRIOTIC to buy an American car and will only support there countries companies. What do you think and why? And what do you drive and why?
What you drive and patriotism?
I do NOT believe it's un-patriotic to buy a car no matter where it's made. Some will disagree with me, mostly due to ignorance. I don't think there is a major car company in the WORLD that gets it's money strictly from the country it is headquartered in. That is to say, if here in the U.S. someone bought a Honda, they wouldn't be making the Japanese rich. I would bet Honda is owned by mostly investors outside of Japan. It all depends how you look at it.
What you drive and patriotism?
Today, many "foreign" cars are built right here in the USA, so how could you regulate that?

I do drive an American brand GM car, but am not opposed to an import.
Reply:This is a Very Heated Debate in the Line of work I am in.

For instance, GM makes many of their cars overseas...and Honda / Toyota make many of theirs in the states....so defining "Buying American" is all a matter of perspective.

I sell Honda's, but was buying them many years before I sold them because of their Reliability and Car for the Money...

Many of my friends would complain about the 100k Mile bug in their "Domestic" brand cars....and here I am with a 94 EX Accord Coupe with 213k Miles on it with very few issues other than regular maintenance...and it still runs and looks great and gets 35 MPG....so I think it should be a matter of common sense and research moreso than where it was built.

(Mine was built in Marysville Ohio by the way)

How does trading in a car for a new one work?

Before you walk into a dealership, go to one of the websites below to find out what the Trade-In value for your car is....be honest about the condition. That should be the amount you expect to get for your car from a dealership. Make sure you have your title handy so the trade-in process will go smoothly.

When you walk into a dealership and start talking prices. Never mention that you are going to trade-in a car up front. Just say, "I may be considering it". This way, they can't mess around with the final numbers before you agree on a final price for the new car. Once that's negotiated and agreed upon, then you bring up the fact that you would like to get your car appraised for a trade-in. Let their appraiser look at your car and give you an amount. If it's acceptable to you and the salesperson, then you're good to go. The value of your car will be deducted from the price of the new car. You will only have to pay tax on the difference that between your trade-in and the new car...not the full price of the new car.
How does trading in a car for a new one work?
Here's a strategy that Worked the best for me over time. First off determine what new car you want to buy along with a list of options that you want. Find out the invoice price of the car from say cars.com or a TMV from Edmund's.

Next approach several dealers in your area for that car. NEVER disclose the fact that you want to trade. Show them the invoice price from cars.com or the TMV. Make sure to ask for out the door/on the road price including Tax Title Registration. (That's how you discover Surprises called Doc Fees.)

Tell them to beat the Numbers from cars.com. You can even set them off against each other by showing the price of one to the other. Be careful this can and does backfire. Also make sure you compare the prices for the same configuration. For Ex. if one Dealer asks $500 more 'cause his model comes with Cruise/Sunroof etc, then deduct $500 from his price before comparing.

Once you identified the Dealer with lowest price. Go in person and iron out Final out the door price one more time. This time lean on him for every Item that gets added to the invoice price. You will be surprised to discover how whiny they can be. You must be a hard nosed SOB to deal with it. After all that, tell him you have a trade. *No dealer how big Poker player he is, can't hide his disappointment on that!)

Make sure you get a fair price on your trade in. Use KBB as a ballpark but not as upper limit.

NEVER as in NEVER EVER had over the keys to the Trade in. Insist on accompanying while they take test Drive. Pocket the keys after they are done driving. You can hand them back once you got the price you wanted.

An altogether approach is to go through carsdirect.com and selling the Trade on your own or to the dealer from whom they got the car.

2004 Acura TL 6 Speed

Luxury= Navi, blue tooth, leather seats, heated seats.

Gas- Honda Motor, so inevitable, great on gas

Hybrid vehicles...?

Hey!! Next year i will be turning sixteen and i know for sure i am getting a hybrid car...what are the best hybrid cars to get. Well i don't exactly want a car soo...whats the best hybrid medium size SUV to get?? Thanks!!
Hybrid vehicles...?
Prius, Civic for cars, Highlander, Escape for mini-SUV's
Hybrid vehicles...?
you should do more research, at the current price point buying a hybrid doesn't make the best financial sense. There are plenty of less expensive cars that get good gas mileage. Plus, you will always pay sticker or more for a hybrid. Furthermore, Hybrids do a fair amount of harm to the planet, think about the batteries. The nickel that is mined for them comes from one of the dirtiest places on earth. Also after the usable life of the battery, where does it go? its still toxic hundreds of years after the fact. Some people would say...recycle them...ok, that takes mass amounts of energy as well. More than you think it does. I applaud your effort to become more green. But you have to think about for the long run, right now hybrids are the "IT" thing. But there is no metric in place for understanding what will become of the 1st and 2nd generation batteries inside them. Until a power source is developed that is somewhat inert to environment long after its useful life, hybrids are not the way of the future.
Reply:Toyota is the top selling hybrid right now. Honda is setting it's sights on passing them in a year or so. Ford makes a fine product in it's Escape and Merc. Mariner, both mid. sized SUVs.
Reply:Yes. This is REAL.. it DOES WORK! I have done it to my personal cars, and all of my family

members who requested.. (which was most of them!)

I recommend buying this guide since its the cheapest (29.95 instead of 35 or 60 !) and it's

the same as all the other ones. Good luck and happy saving!

I drive a Nissan Titan and with the the way gas prices are, I want to sell it. Should I do this?

I was going to put a ad on craigslist just saying will take whatever the payoff is that day. I know I owe less then what bluebook says. Do you think i could sell it quick that way?
I drive a Nissan Titan and with the the way gas prices are, I want to sell it. Should I do this?
umm go to a dealer .

no one is going to buy a titan with the prices now.
I drive a Nissan Titan and with the the way gas prices are, I want to sell it. Should I do this?
The longer you hold on to it, the harder it will be to sell (with the way the economy is headed).

Just selling it for the remaining loan is not in your best interest to get rid of the truck... Try selling it for what it is (or near) actual worth... Knock a couple grand off the price and list it.
Reply:what year titan, crewcab or what?

I would say you are in a bit of a pickle due to the economy and junk, i think your best bet would be to get out from under it before book drops on it. Since it is loaded i think you will probably realize your expectations though.
Reply:If you sell your truck now a days, you will not get the more than $15,000 due to the boom economy(gas). If I were you, buy a used cheap car and keep the truck. When the gas is back down, then try to sell it. Good luck

Haggling for a car price??

I'm going to be buying my first car this weekend.... If the total price of the car ended up being $19,877.00... How much would you offer? I wouldn't want to get laughed at for going too low or get ripped off for not going low enough...
Haggling for a car price??
First off find out what's the invoice price on the car. No one I repeat no one should be paying Sticker Price on any car New or Pre owned. I'd try and get the Invoice Price or at least as close to it as possible. For a $19877 car, Invoice could be 16000 to 17000.

Shop around with several Dealers. Tell them all as such that you are looking at Numbers from select few. That should get them motivated. Compare prices with neighboring State or a dealer from smaller town in your area. If you are in a small town, try nearest bigger town. The Dealers from the other town would love to beat your local dealer to it.
Haggling for a car price??
If it is new, people don't know you are supposed to haggle upwards. Ask what they payed for it (invoice price). For example, lets say you are talking about a car that has a sticker price of $49500. The dealer says they payed $46000 Flat for it. You could go up in price to $47200 and get a better price before going down. Also, never talk about trade-in until you actually get a price for the car. If you mention it before, dealers may not be able to do as well on price.

For you car, I would offer something in the low to mid 17's, maybe $17200. It would be nice if you specified what type of car it is. This would be important because if the car was something such as the Dodge Nitro, you could go to the high 16's because they are not selling at all. If it was something hot like a Prius or Mini Cooper, you would not be able to get much off.

Find other dealers with similar cars near by and get a price by them. See if your dealer you are dealing with will match it. If they can't, by from the other dealer.

Good Luck
Reply:I don't want to screw up your buying experience, but the car market really and I mean really sucks right now!!! They should be willing to deal. If that is sticker on a new car I would offer at least a couple of K's(thousand) lower than the asking price. If that is a used car maybe more. Most car dealers are willing to peel off the price quite a bit to move inventory! Especially in the depressed market we are in right now! Don't pay that sticker whatever you do.
Reply:if that's a setteled price then you could say what would be the least, then they should give a lower price then you could offer a bit less than that. they usually give in but also look up an approximate price for theat type of vehicle so that you can tell him/her that that is to much so they can lower it.

Why would you want to buy it, first of all? Way to many miles. You know how much parts are when it breaks? (not if)
How low can i argue a used car that is worth $10, 500.?
I bet you could get it for $8500.00 There are alot of those cars on cars.com right now listed around $9,000 so i would do a little market research and let the people you are looking at buying the car from know that you are an educated buyer. Maybe $7500.00, but only if you really know how to deal

The Expedition, Flex, Explorer and Taurus X from Ford seat 7-8 people also, but the Expedition and Explorer suck at fuel economy because they have V8's.

The Mazda CX-9 is Motor Trend's SUV of the year, so you know it has some great qualities, like seating for 7 and lot of saftey features. I think it gets like 22-24 MPG.

1984 excalibur Phaeton Anniversary car

1924 excalur Packard Sport touring

How much are these cars worth?
Go to Nada.com.

However, the ultimate question is now how much they're "worth", but how much someone would actually pay for them.

And also, whether you can find the market for them.

The cars may be listed at $50,000, as a random example, but if no one's in the market for them.....they simply won't sell. Making their actual value $0.

Edit: If he's not selling them, then they have no monetary value. Just sentimental value. It's like asking how much your children are worth.

So, infinite personal value, no monetary value. There you go.
How much are these cars worth?
Looking in Hemmings motor News, which gives you an idea of what similar cars go for, I came up with this:

2 1957 Cadillac Eldorados, ranging in price from $89,000-$139,900.

A Packard Twin Six two years older than your neighbor's car, with an asking price of $120,000.

A dozen Excaliurs of various years, with prices ranging from $29,500 to about $45.000.

Should I get a car from the auction or dealership?

Gas is so high right now and so is the cost of everything else. I've been saving up for a car but I'm not sure if I should

A) go back to the Cheve dealership that can get me in a car with a $1000 down, under $250 car payment (not including insurance). Good warranty and I can own it in 2-3 years. Problem is I only work part time so 1/2 of my checks will go towards just the car. Or do I....

B) Save up $1500, go to a used car place, have no warranty but no car payments?
Should I get a car from the auction or dealership?
AWW you just the person a dealer loves to see
Should I get a car from the auction or dealership?
i work at a car dealership and my personal opion is never buy a car from an auction unless you are mechanically inclined. even if a car looks good does not mean it runs good. most of the cars at auctions are vehicles from whole sale dealers which means most of them buy the cars off dealership lots that would cost way more for the dealer to fix

then they would make selling it.
Reply:I agree with princess, do not get a car at auction.

For the time being, just save up 1500 and get a used car.

Which should I buy?

We want a vehicle that has seating for at least 7 up to 9. Should we buy a bigger SUV since they are so cheap right now and pay more for gas, or should we buy a cross-over type or smaller SUV that has less "room" but gets better gas mileage...
Which should I buy?
u should go with the one that has less room but is better on gas

also better on the environment
Which should I buy?
Personally, I would go with the smaller and better gas mileage one.

Gas is not going to ever get cheaper. It will stay high and the larger high priced Suv's will soon become totally uneconomical to drive and sit in the garages.
Reply:well it depends on how you are economicly and your preferances of vehicles, but i would go with the one with better gas mileage.
Reply:Best thing to do is make a list of suvs you might like and test drive them all this costs nothing and means you can decide easier try a LEXUS RX400H there sleek, sporty or the Volvo xc90 sporty, safe, runs well on petrol great car hope this helps

Reply:Get the smaller vehicles as long as you don't have to dislocate your limbs just to fit in the 2nd and 3rd rows.
Reply:You're going to be hard pressed to find a 'smaller' SUV that will fit 0. Our Expedition does and let me tell you, it is EXPENSIVE to drive right now. It costs us about $70 to fill it up. We take our Subaru everywhere now and have found that we don't really NEED all of the room that we thought we did. It's nice to have the Expedition when we take the boat to the lake or when we're transporting Boy Scouts, but when we get rid of the boat, we're getting rid of the gas guzzling monster.

the Suburban was once the King of the Road but it's tired and outdated and at $50K+ way overpriced but short of a 15 passenger van about the only other thing that holds 9.

What's the best economy car bang for the buck?

Ok, so my wife and I have finally decided to pull the trigger on a new car. Our car needs more in repairs than it will ever be worth, we can't afford a new car cash, and a used car will be about as nice as ours was when we first bought it (80,000 miles, just waiting for parts to break). We are looking for a 5 speed, 4 cylinder, basic car.

We are Ford people by heart but the Chevy Cobalt looks more and more appealing. (Especially with a 0% for 60 month finance plan and a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty).

What are your suggestions? I've read reviews, looked at prices, compared programs.

I've looked at Cobalts, Focuses, the Fit, the Yaris, the Hyundai Accent, and the Rabbit.

I understand trade and locale all play a part, but personal opinions, reviews, program info., etc. would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!

Reply:I hope that you will entertain the Honda Civic and Fit in your search, especially considering the Great Resale Value and Car for the money you get with them, not to mention they have some of the best Real-World Fuel Economy of any vehicle in their class....

Depending on your Budget....they all range between 14.7k and 19.5k from Low end to High end....but all come with Standard Features like Power Windows / Locks / Cruise etc...plus there are some really great Finance Specials on the Civics right now too...

Lastly, the Legendary Honda "Fit and Finish" / Reliability will give you peace of mind over the long term.
Reply:Totally the Saturn Astra. The 5 door has a panoramic moonroof and it rocks!

Great reviews, also.
Reply:GM has some great incentives, but the Cobalt is a very mediocre car. If your choice is between that and the Focus, I'd stick with the Focus.

I'd stay away from the Rabbit. VWs tend to be unreliable. The Fit is a very good car with a lot of versatility. The Yaris is good as far as entry-level cars go, but there are better choices for just a little bit more.

Im trying to buy a used honda, but the ones i see in my price range have very high mileage on it, is this bad?
Most hondas, if properly maintain, can last to more than 200,000 miles, even 300,000 miles. Make sure the car is in good condition, use carfax, and make sure to get a mechanic to check the engine of the car, and the body.
Im trying to buy a used honda, but the ones i see in my price range have very high mileage on it, is this bad?
Hondas holdup well even with high mileage if properly maintained. Toyotas and Nissans as well.
Reply:I sell Honda Vehicles that have in excess of 150k Miles on a consistent basis....and as long as they have been maintained properly can and will last 150 K beyond that..

Personally, I still have my 94 EX Accord Coupe with 213k Miels on it...and it gets 35 MPG and runs/looks great..

Some of the main things to look for on a High-Milage Used Honda would be the Following:

Timing belt has been replaced...every 100-120k Miles

Engine Mounts / Ball Joints / Transmission / Regular oil changes performed

A/C Blows Cold

Other than that, make sure that the Body Panels still have the Original VIN Sticker on them and of course get a Carfax report....then you should be ok.

Get the right kind of Honda, and it will outlast many New cars that are on the road right now...

Get a used Jeep Commander. You can't go wrong with a Jeep in my opinion. (But that is just my own opinion).
OK so what smaller SUV has the most room?
Hyundai Santa Fe has more room, but the CRV, Rouge, and the RAV4 are more reliable. Although the Hyundai does have a 100,000 miles transferable warranty.
Reply:Look at the Honda CRV, you can find an older one (before 2004) for under $15,000 and they have a decent amount of room inside for passengers while still being a small and fuel efficient SUV.

It is a v6 too, so I usually get nearly 20 mpg in town and better on trips. I have loved it. Is $10,490 a good deal on a 2004 Mazda Mazda6?
2008 Mazda 6 iTouring model AT with moonroof new is selling for $18000 in Minneapolis area. I can't value the vehicle from your description, but this would be a good comparison area.

Also note that there is a newly designed 2009 model coming out which will only lower values of current design Mazda 6 models.
Is $10,490 a good deal on a 2004 Mazda Mazda6?
Thats a good amount of miles for a 2004 in my opinion. 15k miles a year is about average, so it sounds like this car got some heavy usage.
Reply:Try www.kbb.com
Reply:Mileage is really high, but a Japanese car can stand the workout. Go for it.

Moonroof! w00t! Leather! w00t! Manual! w00t! Mazda! You get my point.....

Where are there car dealerships in Hampton Roads for people with less than average credit? I'm twenty and I do

There are dealerships here in Hampton Roads that will help people, but they tend to rip customers off with their car prices and excessive interest. Try going to a credit union or a bank to see if they can help you first.

What kind of car should I buy?

Ok, so I'm in the market for a car, mine is on it's last leg...I'm not looking for something BRAND new, but at least a 2004 or newer. I have no particular make or model in mind, and would just like opinions. What do you like/dislike about your car and why should I buy one like it? Or not? Thanks in advance for opinions.
What kind of car should I buy?
Alright so you could definitely get a Chevy Cobalt SS Sedan. Used ones are under 10K I've seen tons of 'em on ebay and craigslist.
What kind of car should I buy?
I did drove Cobalt for some time. No complaints. Nice car. I had the base version that seemed underpowered. I am sure the SS version more than compensates.

With $12000 budget and say $2000 for trade you should be able to get a Cobalt easy. If you can do your homework %26amp; are hard nosed, you can get an SS for that price.
Reply:Cobalts are very cheap to fix. This is because they are the third best selling car in the US, and the fact that they are made in the US by US Parts.

My current car is a 2002 GMC Envoy and I would NOT recommend it due to gas prices. I get 14 MPG on Mid Grade and Highway. It is not too good, not to mention this cars build quality. Everything in it does not feel too sturdy. At the end of the month, I am expected to get my Audi A5 I ordered in April. You have to treat yourself every once in a while, I guess I just treated myself for the next 6 Years.

Suspended license/Co signer?

Can someone with a suspended license co sign for a car? I don't know if varies from state to state but I live in Texas.
Suspended license/Co signer?
It's the driver they are more concerned about... you would be the primary owner... the co-signer is only involded if you don't pay.

Some dealership will want to make a copy of the co-signer's license, and unless it has been branded to say "suspended" they will not even take it into consideration. If it does, they may require an affidavit stating that they are not out on bail or something like that to where they would not be able to pay for the car if you default on the loan.
Suspended license/Co signer?
The person buying the car can have a suspended license. The dealer dont check that, So to answer your question yes they can. They are not buying the car there just using there credit.
Reply:(I sell Honda's in Texas - San Antonio to be Exact)

The short answer is No.

You as a Cosignor will be listed on the Title of the vehilce....and to be titled on a Vehicle you have to have current DL and Insurance.

The Lender will require the DL and Insurance Info as well...and from what I understand they do verify wether or not the License is current at time of funding.

You may want to talk to the Lender directly and see what they say....but Im sure there is not much wiggle room there.

C.Bond
Reply:I am pretty sure they can,, even if they are suspended they still have a drivers license number to go by,, But if they had there drivers license taken away from them than he or she

will have no proof of there license number

The only reason they need the other persons drivers license

number is, 1 if they drive the car then that means there license

would have to be good also. #2 if you default on your loan then they will have the information and they will go after the co-signer to pay for the rest of the loan.

Like you said it does very from state to state..

Call a different loan company and ask them......b.Jerry30
Reply:Yes they can cosign with a suspended license.

Which car???

Ok so i have picked two cars. i would first like to thank everyone for there help in helping me decide which are to pick to buy. and i have narrowed my choices down to two cars. 1) Mazda3 (5door hatchback) 2)VW Golf

what i would like you to do is help me pick the final car. please tell me everything that you know about these cars, their pros, cons, prices, mpg, and everything that can help me in deciding which car is the one for me!!! go go go.
Which car???
The Mazda would be more reliable probably more fun to drive too. They both probably get good gas mileage
Which car???
Mazda. It has a driving experience like no other and is built like a tank.
Reply:The Golf......The golf was discontinued as of like 2006, so you're talking about an early model. Those earlier models weren't that great, so go for the Mazda.

UNLESS, of course you're talking about the VW Rabbit (the golf's replacement), then hop over to the Rabbit because it has won numerous tests from Magazines like Automobile, Motor trend, Road and track, and Car and driver.

Reply:Go for the Mazda. Volkswagens are plagued with electrical problems.
Reply:I would not buy neither one of them, But if your heart is set on

buying one of the two.. First check to see which on has the

best warranty on them.

Is the cars new or used you didn't say!

If I was forced to choose I guess it would be the Mazda, Now

if the Mazda is used and it has the rotter engine in it,They have a lot of problems with the head or valves and camshaft

I am not sure what one.

Now the Volkswagen golf,,Just the the name turns me away

I guess you only drive it when you go golfing!!!!!! b.Jerry30
Reply:Mazda

better car, more reliable.

How can i find out the true value of a car?

Kelly Blue Book!

How can i find out the true value of a car?
go to "blue book" online, give correct information, and they will give you an estimate for fair, good, and excellent conditions. good luck , and good sell.
How can i find out the true value of a car?
To find the true value of a car look in the kelly blue book....Or you could go online and look up how mutch the car was in the earlier models
Reply:Really a vehicle is only worth what someone else will pay for it. Your kelley blue book or nada book will tell you what the loan value is. It all depends on the condition of the car and it's desirability in the market place. Take for instance a chevy suburban. Kelley blue book may state that the retail value for this vehicle is 25k, but with rising gas prices that vehicle is less valuable in relation to kbb. On the other hand you take a honda civic that gets good gas mileage, it is more desirable in today's market and would be worth more in relation to kbb. Just because kbb states its worth a certain amount doesn't necessarily mean thats what it's worth.
Reply:KBB doesn't buy cars, their prices usually are not accurate, to find out the true wholesale value of a car, bring it to a dealer and have it appraised. For retail, see what others have sold for.
Reply:There's several factors in Pricing a car. Apart from immediately apparent issues like anything broken or dings/dents, you have to consider depreciation. Some cars retain their sell-able value. Others loose value over time. Also the value of the brand makes a lot of difference.

Along with KBB, you may want to see Edmund's TMV price that takes all such factors into consideration.

I have 1,500 dollars is that enough to go to a car auction?

I have 1,500 dollars is that going to be enoughmoney to get a car from the auction?like an old school vech.
I have 1,500 dollars is that enough to go to a car auction?
Maybe, but cars tend to start off like around $500 dollars then jump up to a few grand. Good luck
I have 1,500 dollars is that enough to go to a car auction?
maybe it depends on if they have any cars that are really old and need alot of work on. i would take 200 dollars just in case but i do know they have cars that cheap over at car auctions.
Reply:My uncle bought a perfect '99 Dodge Ram 3/4 ton pickup for $2,800 at an auction. If you can get that for a truck, I bet you could find a decent, drivable car for what you have. If not, you'll find out, and gather some more $$, and go back next time.
Reply:sure
Reply:That is according to what you are looking for.

I have been to a couple of them and the question is how many people will want the same car that you want .

Now, here is a big tip, If you have a chance too view the cars

like a day before the auction or just before the auction, take a pen and paper with you and then if you see some cars you like then wright the auction number and info down off the windshield for each car you want to bid on.

that will help you out a lot,but you can still watch the other cars to ,they may not go as high as you think they will.

OH, It is according to how many used car dealers shows to.

If you get to view them ahead of time you can keep a eye out

to see what cars the others are interested in.

If I was you I think I would try to get a little more money up too take with you.

the more cars they have there, the more chances you will get one. I hope I was some help......... b.Jerry30

Buying my next used car... suggestions?

Long story short, my beloved Olds Alero was totaled last night when a deer jumped off a ledge on the interstate.

So now I've got to find a new car much, much sooner than I had expected, and I haven't got a clue where to start. I'd like to upgrade to something a little more suitable for my lifestyle than the Olds, although I will miss the sportiness.

The list (the would-be-nice-but-don't-HAVE-to-have)...

--AWD/4WD (I live off a lake where the temp drops well below 0)

-- Room for the dogs

-- decent mpg

-- does NOT drive like a boat

-- Safety ++++

-- would like to stay away from models in the "lemon" catagory

-- something with some git'up 'n' go (alero was a 6 cyl)

I was thinking about a Subaru Forester - haven't gotten out to drive one yet. I wasn't a big fan of the Outback - thought it was too heavy for the engine (I've got hills, curves, and mountains).
Buying my next used car... suggestions?
You forgot to mention the most important category...cost!

Assuming you're looking to buy a brand new or almost new vehicle, here are a few to consider. All of these are about the same size and will have more than enough power and decent gas mileage.

Honda CR-V

Subaru Forester

Toyota RAV-4

Toyota Highlander

If those arent quiet big enough/powerful enough, check out these:

Honda Pilot

Toyota 4Runner

Nissan Murano

All of these have AWD or 4WD, room in the back for dogs/cargo, get at least 25 mpg on the highway (some a little higher), handle like a car, are safe, and most importantly have excellent reliability!

You should also check out the Outback if you really like a car feel with cargo room...they are available in a 6 and 4 cylinder...the 6 has a TON of power.

Personally I'm a fan of the new CR-V, Murano, and Highlander.
Buying my next used car... suggestions?
Hyundai Elantra!! It's the top-rated car in it's category as far as reliability and safety, it's roomy, really fun to drive and economical. I love mine!! I bought a 2007 from a dealer and got a fantastic deal
Reply:easy.. Subaru Impreza!

2000 RS V6, got everything you could ever want

4WD

22/28 mpg

Perfect crash test rating

And subaru is well known for there handling and superiority!!

you can find one...oh fore around 5-8K

Good Luck ;))))
Reply:Toyota 4Runner

yeah it's a truck but it handles pretty good

and it's FWD capabilities are outstanding.

I sold my car, but now the new oner wants me to buy it back?

I sold my 2008 car to some guy. two weeks later, he found out it was a prior lemon car.

True, I knew it was lemoned before and didn't tell the guy, but he never asked. we signed a bill of sale and I stated "as-is". Now he wants me to buy the car back. Do I have to or not? Before he told me he was a dealer, now he tells me he is not a dealer. What is the difference? Do I have to buy the car back?
I sold my car, but now the new oner wants me to buy it back?
It's your responsibility to inform the buyer. There is no "well, he never asked" involved.

You can buy the car back, or he can sue you for failure to notify, which makes your sale basically a fraud.....

Dealer or not. Doesn't make a difference. He didn't purchase what you led him to believe he was. Which puts him full in the right, and you in the wrong.

Sorry for the bad news, but that's the bottom line.
I sold my car, but now the new oner wants me to buy it back?
as long as YOU are not a dealer tough luck for him..don't accept his calls or see him
Reply:What go around come around. If you guys already signed a contract as is, then dont worry about it. He probably going to take you to the court to settle this, but he will lose.
Reply:Failure to disclose known problems will result in lawsuits by the buyer. Lemon laws are ferociously upheld by the courts.
Reply:Not under as-is you do not need to buy the car back. As-is mean just that, that it is being sold as-is. Whatever problem that the car has is now the new owners problems.

If you were a dealer, the laws would be different with lemon cars.
Reply:does the guy know where you live? does he have your phone number?

i say that you just try to ignore/avoid the guy. if it's a cheap car, it probably won't be worth his time/money to try and sue you. if the car was expensive, then you might want to hide out with some family members in another state (or even better, another country) for a bit. good luck.
Reply:hell no. don't let him pressure you. you sold it "as-is"

that's how it's goin to be, the buyers obligated to gather all pertanent information about the vehicle meaning the seller does not have to disclose random factual information. carfax's are not required documents to sell a car (why you still have to pay for them, they are third party profitable business)

someone tried to do the same thing to me, when they had trans noise on a manual...only i am a mechanic and he thought i should give him money to fix after he had bought it
Reply:Usually lemon laws only apply to new cars. You need to check the laws in your state. If you are not a dealer and sold a used auto "as-is", then there is no warranty. If he did not ask, then he is out of luck. He should have done a carfax. You need to check the laws before there could be a lawsuit.
Reply:That's something you should probably have disclosed, as it is material to the value of the vehicle. He can try and sue you, but if he'd done his due diligence, he would have known from a Carfax report.

I am looking to buy a Black and Grey 2CV charleston and fullfill a long time dream of having one of these beautiful cars of my own. If anyone can assist I would be grateful, even if anyone knows any garages that sell them or know someone selling one private. Where can I buy a 2CV Charleston?
Ebay!

Going to change cars in 3 years. should i just lease?

so here's my situation:

i'm looking for a new car. i'm basically looking for a cheap reliable car that i can drive around for 3 years while i go to school.

after the 3 years, i plan on buying a new, nicer car (i'll be making more money).

if this is the case, would leasing be the smart thing to do?
Going to change cars in 3 years. should i just lease?
yes!
Going to change cars in 3 years. should i just lease?
thats what i do and im off at college, i leased a nice mazda 3.

its really gas efficient, and cheap to lease,

i think you should go for it!
Reply:Leasing is never a good idea unless it is for a business who wants a fleet of cars. They can write it off as part of the expense of doing business.

Most people who lease don't realize what all the added charges are. For example going over miles. You aren't allowed many free miles, and most people end up paying more on a lease car than it was worth when they go to turn it in. They spent as much as they would if they were to buy a car, yet they have no equity.

You are far better off just purchasing a 10 yr old car and driving it until the wheels fall off. Then buy your new car in 3 yrs.
Reply:If you can afford the payments on a 3-year loan, I'd suggest buying. Then you'll have some equity in it for a trade in. If you can't afford those payments, then leasing is a viable option.
Reply:Probably, but just be careful on the miles. Most leases have mile limitations on them and if you go over, they will take a nice chunk out of your wallet.
Reply:NEVER LEASE. NEVER BUY A NEW CAR. Both are total money rip-offs. Watch Dave Ramsey on the Fox Financial Network at 8PM, M-F.

Be smarter than the people who are trying to rip you off!
Reply:Leasing a car is not a good Idea unless u need a tax break! As a rule u never own the thing and it would be wise to buy a small cheap car that u can turn around in a few yr ( something the economy) will want in a few yrs cheap NEW make payments ( dealer are giving away cars- NEW ones) bc they are paying interest on them while they are sitting on their lot whereas used cars are doing nothing for them ( not costing them nothing to keep).

but some generic Japanese car hundi ( OR the like) That way you'll have no expenses and get a low interest rate on the new car payment,...That's going to be the best most prudent way to transport Ur self around, I hope this makes sense to ya !!

Good Luck and think about the new car info,.. do the math

OX
Reply:I would go with a used honda civic. They last for 200,000 miles or more without any serious problems. They barely depreciate and have excellent gas milage. If you bought a civic for let's say 7,000 and drove it for 3 years, you would be able to get half your money back after selling it. If you lease a vehicle you can only drive so many miles a year, baby the car , and then give it back with out gaining anything.
Reply:Never lease. It's a complete rip-off. Buy the cheapest car you don't mind being in for the next three years, and save along the way for the new car. At the end of the three years, you can sell a "cheap" car by-owner and possibly get most of your money back to put towards your new ride. I'm telling you, don't lease or you'll be more hamstrung to your payments than you'll want to be.

Did I mention, never lease a car.
Reply:i bought a saab 94 for 1600 last year. it's great and i got it on craigslist. it had 125k on it and it's got leather interior and a sunroof! it's a little dinged up on the right passenger door otherwise it looks really good. it saves me money cause i have no payments and my insurance is like 65 a month. used cars a great IF you do your homework. i looked for 3 months before i jumped on this one. i've had no problems so far (knock on wood). it'll last me at least another 3 or 4 years...
Reply:My advice is to buy something out right that looks dependable and save your so called lease payment up for the new car.

You will be paying just as much on a lease car as you will be on payments on a new one.

The good thing on a lease vehicle is that you have three options at the end of your lease 1 you can take it back and give the keys and walk away from it or 2. pay off the remainder

of the lease ( 1,800 to 2,400 ) some where around that area

Or this is the good part I liked when I leased my car.

You can turn the car in and drive off in that years new model..

They do have a restriction on the miles,, mine was I could not put on no more than 12,000 miles a year and what you put on over that you will pay like 45 cents a mile you run over.

But keep this in mind you always have a warranty on that car as long as you drive it on lease,, All you pay is for gas and I think they do the first 3 oil changes there self and you pay for them after that.. If you go that route see if they have what they

call the Smart Lease I know Chevrolet does that's where I got

mine ( 2005 Chevy cobalt ) and I liked that car.

This is my opinion ......... b.Jerry30

Some 3rd party lessors may work with you, but I doubt any of the major guys will.

If you can drop a nice down payment on it and/or have a trade in, sure.
Reply:The saying "If there is a will there is a way" still is true, but it will require YOU to do allot on your part. Also make sure that you know that almost all leases will require a substantial cash down at inception. You also still have to pay sales tax and fees similar to buying. At most dealerships they have a person specially trained to help low or no credit people. I would start there and just be as flat honest as you can be right from the start. In the end all the dirt comes out anyway, so you might as well walk in with it (if it exists) and save the guy the drill. If he gets a "good feeling" he might go to bat for you more. Some dealers (rare) will carry the down so that you can buy instead of lease. That would free you from end of lease fees (mileage,wear/tear,damage,maintenance etc. These type of charges at the end of a lease can be substantial. So in the end it might be possible, but it won't be easy. Just some info to ponder.

1. There is no substitute for a down payment. The larger you have the more it carries weight to your benefit.

2. There is no substitute for time on a single job.

3.There is no substitute for good credit (Don't mess this up!)
Reply:If you have NO credit it will be tough without a cosigner. Putting a VERY large downpayment might work but you dont really want to put a big chunk of cash down on a lease because you will probably return the car when its done. You do have the option of buying the car when the lease is up. That being said I dont think leasing is for you, if your driving so much everyday your going to need extremely high milage limit on your lease in which case your payment will go up so much it wont be worth leasing.

Find a good used car, there is tons of them out there, and you can easily get a used car that will last for years even if you drive alot everyday.

Try a honda or toyota, the last forever, even the older ones, you can run those cars for 200,000 miles easily if they are well maintained

I want a new car?

What is the cheapest monthly payment for a 08-09 sedan?

and what would the down payment be?
What is the cheapest monthly payment for a 08-09 sedan?
Well there is no "cheapest payment" cause you could put a down payment of $19,000 on a car thats worth $20,000 and your payment for 3 years would be like $30 a month.

if your asking what a GOOD down payment would be, than i'd say putting $5,000 down on a Honda Civic that you get for $17,000. Say you have excellent credit and the dealer gives you 3% interest, and your sales tax is 7.75%, well than with a 60 month payment plan your payments would be about $240 a month. Which isn't bad for a new car payment.
What is the cheapest monthly payment for a 08-09 sedan?
The more money you put down at first the cheaper the monthly payments are. Typically for every $1000 owing you pay $20/month. The cheaper the car = the cheaper payments.

For people who actually experienced leasing a car and liked it that they recommend leasing rather than buying?

any experiences you could share?

pros and cons?

if it could be applied nowadays that the gas prices are high and car models and technology change rapidly
For people who actually experienced leasing a car and liked it that they recommend leasing rather than buying?
just remember, you are effectively renting the car. it must be returned in good shape at the end of the term. also, there is a mileage per year limit and overages are usually pretty expensive.

also, you have the option to buy the car at the end of the lease, but it ends up being quite a bit more than if you had just bought the car in the first place. leases can be good for people who want a new car every couple of years and have the available income.

I own a 1997 bmw e39, but i`m gonna sell it soon and get me a honda, can u plz advise me what to buy? thx?

oh and dont tell me to buy a crv

Bought a car 2 weeks ago and it broke down...Is there any way i can get my money back?

We didnt buy the car from a dealership we bought it from a private party on the 23rd and today is the 10th so its been about 2 weeks...
Bought a car 2 weeks ago and it broke down...Is there any way i can get my money back?
how did it break, what kind of contract did you sign, what kind of bill of sale

hopefully you didn't buy as-is
Bought a car 2 weeks ago and it broke down...Is there any way i can get my money back?
Tough luck for you, no, you cant get the money back. When you buy any car that are from private owner, it is sell "As is", and there are no warantty for it either.
Reply:Whoops. You got ripped off.
Reply:Unfortunately, all private party purchases are considered "as-is" unless there was a written guarantee. You can not return the vehicle nor get your money back unless the seller is willing to grant your request.
Reply:private sells are sold as is with no warranty. sorry about your luck
Reply:Nope, you wont be able to get your money back as you bought it "AS-IS" from a private seller unless of course you had a written contract between you and the private seller, which you probably don't. Sounds like you got a transmission problem or something, but you'll have to take care of it on your own and foot the bill for it. Next time you buy a car, get it inspected before purchasing it and ask for service receipts.
Reply:I am assuming that because it was a private sale that you did not fill out any type of "lemon agreement" with the other party, so the short answer is no you can not get your money back.
Reply:Take it to a mechanic and see what is wrong with it. Check you local Lemon Law to see if you have a case against the seller. However, you most likely don't because you bought it from an individual.
Reply:You may be out of luck, but if you really want to get justice, and the price of a lawyer is worth it to you, you have every right to utilize the "Lemon" Law.

I'm sure the car is a Lemon, and even though it was from a private seller, you should still have some rights.

Not sure about this, but if you invested a sum in this car,it may be worth your time to at least consult a consumer attorney,or Legal Aid.

At the very least, you may be able to sue the seller in court.

Good luck, and next time have a mechanic check out the vehicle before exchanging any monies.
Reply:Take it to a mechanic and see what is wrong with it. See if anything was put in the transmission or motor to make it work temporarily. Then check your local Lemon Law to see if you have a case against the seller. But you probably are just out of luck since you bought it from an individual.
Reply:You bought a used car from a private party. Private party sales are "as is". About the only options you have is selling the car and take the loss or fix it. The seller doesn't have to do anything for you.

Lemon laws don't apply here. Used car purchased from a private seller. Buyer assumes all risk.

Can you get turned down from a trade in of a car? and after the trade in is done, do you have to pay anything?

When you are buying a new car from a respectable lot, I don't think that they would turn a trade-in down too often. Let's face it they want you to purchase the new car/truck so they will do almost anything to make that happen. The down side is the condition of the car/truck that you are trading in. If it is not worth a lot then they will only give you a small amount for it. See car dealerships don't make that much money off of the trade in because in most cases they sell the car/truck to another dealer of only used cars. So due to that transaction sometimes they will consider how much they can re-sell it for and that might be the price that they give to you on the trade in. Sometimes it is better to sell the car/truck yourself then use that money to get your car.

Try it though...go to your dealership of choice and ask how much they will give you as a trade in value. Shopping around might be good to do in this case too!

Good Luck.
Can you get turned down from a trade in of a car? and after the trade in is done, do you have to pay anything?
Dealers rarely ever "turn down" a trade, they will just give you a low value if it's a vehicle they will not keep for their inventory. If you buy a car and trade in your previous vehicle and you gave them the title, you are done.

However, if your trade still had a balance on it %26lt;loan%26gt;, then it's your responsibility to make sure the dealership pays off your old loan in time. If they do not, it will reflect negatively on your credit report, which will not be removed even if the dealer is at fault. Good luck and I hope this helps. You can email if you have questions.
Can you get turned down from a trade in of a car? and after the trade in is done, do you have to pay anything?
Very rarely, but yes, you can get turned down on a trade in. For example, It's very unlikely that the BMW dealership would take a barely running Datsun for a trade (or at least give you anything worth the effort). The majority of the time a car is traded, it is worth less than the car being bought, so yes, you will have to pay. It is highly unlikely that a reputable dealership will offer a trade without cash changing hands.
Reply:If you owe money on the trade in the dealer will add it too your

loan so it will be payed off so they can resale it ...

I learned the hard way I traded in a car that i had owed $2,700 on so if you want to trade that in say 3 years down the

line and you do not have it payed off,, they will say they can not do it because you owe more than what the car is worth

that is because the dealer ship added the $2,700 to your loan to get the trade in payed off for you but you are still paying off the trade in. I hope you can understand that.

Reply:Your question could be answered better if more information about the deal was disclosed. After reading some great comments, I thought of another scenario that you may be dealing with. Have you taken possession of a newer car and now the dealer is calling saying that the trade-in has problem? Or has the bank come back and denied the loan and the dealership is trying to get you to bring it back to "unwind the deal"? If this is happening you do need to take it back unless the bank wants more down payment. The trade-in value as far as that is concerned should not change, unless they were going to have it appraised first. All of this should show up in your vehicle buyers order (contract). If this has not been completed than they have only loaned you a newer car so far.

Can I trade in my car for a less expensive one to lower the payments?

Been making payments for two years and I want out without the hassle of a repo...What can I do?
Can I trade in my car for a less expensive one to lower the payments?
Find a dealer who will pay off your trade and allow you to drive off in a smaller car. Most dealers are able to do this, so its a matter of going out and finding the car you want at the dealer you want and then asking them if it can be done.
Can I trade in my car for a less expensive one to lower the payments?
There are a lot of variables, and here is a lot of good info:

http://moneyfor20s.about.com/od/gettingo...
Reply:Well it depends on the amount owed on your trade, if you can find a vehicle that will support the negative equity if there is any. bottom line is yes they can do it, it sounds like you are close to being in your current vehicle for long enough to possibly break even on your trade/ payoff balance.

To give you a more accurate answer I would need to know how long your loan was for, what the pay off is and the type of vehicle you are considering. a suggestion is this, you could find an economical car with a strong rebate and absorb a good portion if not all of the negative equity.
Reply:Try to sell it yourself. Then take the money and pay it off. Then get another car.
Reply:Most likely, it isn't going to work out that way. If you are in a negative equity situation, ie: you owe more than the car is worth, that has to be taken into consideration and can result in high payments for a less expensive vehicle.

Are chryslers reliable cars?

I've been offered a '99 chrysler sebring convertible with 61k. Is this something to look into? Or should I stick with looking for a japanese which is what I have been doing - toyota, mazda, nissan, etc.
Are chryslers reliable cars?
I would make sure that the transmission has been serviced. As far as convertibles are concerned, the Sebring is on the top of the list for construction. A car is only as good as the care given by the previous owner.
Are chryslers reliable cars?
I personally like North American made cars due to trying to support my fellow North American workers. But coming from a quality assurance/automotive background the Japanese made cars are of a higher quality standard due to strict manufacturing guidelines that are followed during the manufacturing assembly. If you check this website below though, you can look up any car/truck to see if there are/were any type of recalls with it.
Reply:Generally not
Reply:Car Quality is pretty much indistiguishable between US and Japanese manufacturers within the first five years of ownership. From five years forward, the Japanese quality stands out.

Make sure to get a CarFax report and have a mechanic check it out before you sign anything.
Reply:Chrysler cars are reasonable in reliability. Their main problem is misunderstanding in servicing their 4 speed automatic transmissions.

Most mechanics think Dexron is an universal oil for automatic transmissions. But it is death to a Chrysler.

Never put Dexron in a Chrysler trannie.

Use only Mopar ATF-4. You'll have no problems with the transmissions.

The benefit of buying a used Chrysler is that they depreciate like crazy. The same year and mileage Toyota will be much more expensive. So used Chryslers are very good values.
Reply:Definitely not that Chrysler.
Reply:not very

an definitely not a sebring.

My motor goes out two months after i bought it.....what should i do????

My parents and I decied to buy a car. So we did some reaserch on the internet, and we found a car dealership in Stone Moutain Ga. So we took a ride to the car dealership to see if we could find a car, and we found something that we liked. So my mother put a down payment on the car in order for the salesmen to hold the car. Ok so we made the agreement with the salesmen that we would make the remaining payments until the car was paid for. Then about 2 days later we go back up there and he has sold the car after making the agreement with us, saying that he would not. So he promises to find us another car but better. So he dose, we see and like the car and we make some more payments, and he lets us take the car home but he dose not give us the title. He gave us a 30 day lisense and in the 30 days of having the car the motor goes out. Now the salesmen don't wanna do anything about getting the car fixed. What should I do clearly they sold us a lemon.
My motor goes out two months after i bought it.....what should i do????
if i were you, i wouldn't be on yahoo answers

they most definitely took you for a ride if what you said was true. you need professional help on this one.

very bad business, i would contact the better business bureau as well as long as what all you said were true
My motor goes out two months after i bought it.....what should i do????
You could probably report it to the Better Business Bureau. They might give you info on what you can do. I hope you have these agreements you made with them down on paper.
Reply:Because you blew up the engine does not make it a lemon. A lemon applies to new cars that have to go back to the dealer 5 or more times for the same problem.

You bought a used car. It is your responsibility to have an independent inspection done BEFORE you purchased the vehicle.

Just because it looks good, it doesn't make it run good.

In California if the salesman sold the car you put a down on, they would be liable to get the car back for you.

Did you buy the car "as is" without warranty? If so, there is nothing you can do about it.

What caused the engine to go? High miles, no water, no oil, bad head gasket......there are many factors that can kill an engine.
Reply:For one thing it's a used vehicle, so the lemon law would not apply. You could contact the attorney generals office for your state and seek advise from them. So was this a buy here pay here lot? also did you have a mechanic inspect the vehicle in the 30 days? Also did you beat the car up while driving it?

The (somewhat) technical definition of what constitutes a vehicle that is a "lemon" is: ANY NEW VEHICLE that has a substantial problem that isn't fixed within a reasonable number of attempts, or that has had a certain number of days out of service. But how do you define the meaning of "substantial problem," "reasonable number of attempts," and "certain number of days" when it comes to dealing with a problem car? There are general federal and state lemon laws that you can turn to, to see if your lemon fits the bill and, if it does, what you can do about it. Three sets of laws apply to defective vehicles and products in the United States.

1. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act

Magnuson-Moss is a federal law that protects the buyer of any product that costs more than $25 and comes with a written warranty. The act prevents manufacturers from drafting grossly unfair warranties. It also makes it economically viable to bring warranty suits by providing the award of attorney's fees.

2. The Uniform Commercial Code

The UCC applies to all 50 states (and D.C., Puerto Rico, etc.) and covers contracts dealing with the sale of products. The UCC gives the consumer the right to a refund or replacement of a lemon. The UCC, however, does not define a Lemon, so it's up to a court to decide if an auto company must give you a refund or a new car. The Magnuson-Moss act and many state lemon laws also provide for attorney fees under the UCC.

3. State-Specific Lemon Laws

Most state lemon laws specify that a manufacturer must provide a refund or replacement for a defective new vehicle when a substantial defect cannot be fixed in four attempts, a safety defect within two attempts or if the vehicle is out of service for 30 days within the first 12,000 to 18,000 miles or 12 to 24 months.

Success in using state lemon laws depends upon three things: keeping good records, providing the right notice, and using arbitration programs where required. As with all cases involving two or more parties, it is important to document the transaction. When it comes to dealing with auto manufacturers and dealers, it's even more important. The car business is the big leagues -- you're dealing with professionals who will do just about whatever it takes to win.

Is it possible to ask the dealer to remove the dealer name tattoo/badge/sticker on a car ur about to buy?

I'm in the market for a new car, but some of the cars I like have the dealership's name on the back. it ruins the look of the car for me, and I don't like how I'm paying almost 30k for a new car and I have to give them free advertising too. is there an option to delete this? how hard could it be to paint over the patch?
Is it possible to ask the dealer to remove the dealer name tattoo/badge/sticker on a car ur about to buy?
definitely ask them, if they want the sale, they'll do it!
Is it possible to ask the dealer to remove the dealer name tattoo/badge/sticker on a car ur about to buy?
YES. They can and should remove it for you with no damage at no cost or you should buy your vehicle elsewhere. Tell them that.
Reply:I have worked in a dealership for years - they cannot refuse. So yes, ask them.
Reply:Yes, tell and have it written NO DEALER INFO ADDED or it negates the deal, that is ususally done a the delivery prep time.
Reply:I usually do it myself, but I am sure they will do it if you tell them as part of the deal.

I don't believe in giving them free advertisement either.
Reply:It's usually just a sticker. Sure you can have them remove it, and I would recommend you do it before you take the car. Stickers have glue that gets old and hard after sitting in the sun, and the sticker will get more difficult to remove with time. Some dealers just put a frame around the license plate, and of course you can remove that easily. You should not have to advertise for anyone, unless they pay you, of course.
Reply:I have requested it on every car I bought for 20 yrs. The dealer has never had a problem granting my request.
Reply:just ask the dealership. they cant refuse you if you buy the car. dont paint over it.
Reply:yest they'll do it, and it won't damage the car at all.
Reply:They want to make a sale. They will do it GLADLY if they think you're a buyer. Just go ahead and mention it. Thanks!
Reply:It is a decal. Peel it off, or tell them to.
Reply:It's just a sticker. You can insist that the salesperson get rid of the dealer badge from the trunk before you pick up the car. Make sure you have them add it to the contract because the same thing happened to me. It wasn't a $30K car but it was brand new nonetheless and the sticker/badge really bothered me. I told the dealer I wanted it removed when I came to pick up the car in a few days. Sure enough, the badge was still there when I got there and he said I could just remove it myself. It wasn't a deal breaker for me but it was more of an inconvenience for me to do it myself...I just went online to figure out how to remove it.

Most of the time, it's just a sticker that can be sliced off. Use a piece of dental floss and slide it behind the badge. In a back and forth motion while pulling down, use it to slice through the glue that's keeping the badge on the car. Once the badge is off, you can rub the spot with some Goo Gone and it will loosen up the remaining glue and can be wiped off easily.

If it's a higher-end car like a Mercedes, sometimes those badges are riveted to the trunk. Make sure it's not riveted before you try to remove it. If it is, then you should have the dealer remove it before you pick up the car.
Reply:Don't try to paint over it. Just ask them to remove it and don't take possession of the car until they do.
Reply:yes, only takes 3 minutes to remove. i had them remove it from my 09 camry before purchasing it b/c it looks ugly with dealer name on it.
Reply:Tell them up front that if you buy from them, you do not want their dealer information posted on the car. They should be willing to accommodate your request. You don't want to try painting over the sticker.
Reply:I hate those things too. I took mine off myself. It's just a sticker and it can be gently peeled off with no harm to the car or the painted surface.

Or ask the dealer to do it. When you sign the buyers order insist that it be removed. Make sure that it is noted on the delivery paperwork. Refuse to accept the car if it not removed.

Those things ruin the look of every car they get slapped on, especially if the Bozo in the back puts it on crooked.

Dealer wrote on receipt when they sold me my car they would fix check engine light?

When I bought my car the dealer wrote on a recipt they would fix cel if it reapperaed. About 3 days after having car the cel came back on, I took it to there mechanic about 3 times replaced several parts, everytime I took it they said drive it for 2 weeks or so to cycle through the ecu. Well its been about 2 months now and there are still cel's. I have about 500 miles on the car and after renewing my temp plates twice I had to go get echeck. In the echeck parking lot I disconnected battery so that it would pass and now hes saying it passed echeck, its over now. Just curious to see if I have any rights here considering I have in writing that he would fix cel. THanks for any input
Dealer wrote on receipt when they sold me my car they would fix check engine light?
Take it back to the dealer where you bought it. If They do not fix it threaten to drive the car through their window.
Dealer wrote on receipt when they sold me my car they would fix check engine light?
I think he would still be responsible to fix it. Usually you can talk to an attorney the first time for free. Also let the Better Business Bureu know.
Reply:go back to dealer and tell them to fix it right or you will throw a fit in front of all their customers and scare them away telling them how bad this dealer is.
Reply:Tell the Better Buisness Buearu, maybe contact an attorney.
Reply:Sounds like you have a lemon on your hands. It's nothing you did wrong or the dealer did wrong either. It's just that 1 in 1000 car that has issues that just can't be fixed. The dealer is responsible for fixing it and if it can't be, then you should be entitled to a new car.

Each state has their own Lemon Laws. Check the link below for your state. I used to live in NY and the New York State New Car Lemon Law, General Business Law, Section 198-a, provides that if, after a reasonable number of attempts, a dealer cannot repair a new vehicle within the first 18 months or two years of delivery of that vehicle to the consumer, then the consumer is entitled to a refund of the purchase price or a replacement vehicle. The law presumes that a reasonable number of attempts have been made if the dealer has made four repair attempts for the same problem or the vehicle has been out of service for 30 days or more within the first 18,000 miles or two years. However, this does not mean that you have to have four repair attempts or meet the 30 day requirement to have a claim under the New York State New Car Lemon Law. So long as a "reasonable number" of repair attempts have been made, you may seek relief. Consequently, you should always consult with a lawyer when evaluating your legal rights. This law also provides a mechanism for recovering attorney fees.

I had a problem with my Subaru that rendered it un-driveable each time the part failed and had to be towed to a dealership each time. It happened 3 times within a month's time frame. The 4th time it was in the shop, I contacted a Lemon Law lawyer in my state and explained my case to them and they accepted the case. Technically, I was over the limit in mileage to qualify for a "lemon" (I had 25K miles on the car) but it was still under the new car warranty. I wrote to Suabaru of America to demand a new car since it was obvious that they could not fix my car properly. My lawyers had already started processing the case and I'm not sure if that gave Subaru some pressure but before I got my car back, they had sent a specialist from Subaru headquarters to diagnose my problem. After I got my car back, it never happened again. I was happy as a clam that I got my car back and there were no issues so I thought the case was closed. Apparently, my lawyers were still pursuing the case. About 1 year later, I received a letter and a check from my lawyers awarding me $1500 from Subaru for my troubles. I could either take the money or pursue the lemon law and try to get a new car. I just opted to take the money since my car was driving fine after the last incident.

Since your car is much newer than mine and they still haven't fixed the problem, I'd start searching for a Lemon Law lawyer in your state. I found mine through the link below. My lawyers recouped their fees from Subaru too...nothing out of my pocket.

Good luck with your case!
Reply:You did wrong by disconnecting the battery in this case.

And what do you mean by echeck??

And why did you have to renew your temp plate twice? once the deal is done they should have sent your paper work in to

where ever they had to send it to.

I would have told them to keep the car and give me another car in place of it or give me car to drive and call me when you know you have it fixed.

SEE that is what is wrong with a lot of dealer ships any more

if it is a used car they do as little as possible to get you out of there hair..Then if you buy a new car they will bend over backwards to get you in it because, the new cars is where they make there money or the big bucks at.and the heck with the people that only has the money to buy a used car..
