Bought a car 2 weeks ago and it broke down...Is there any way i can get my money back?

We didnt buy the car from a dealership we bought it from a private party on the 23rd and today is the 10th so its been about 2 weeks...

Tough luck for you, no, you cant get the money back. When you buy any car that are from private owner, it is sell "As is", and there are no warantty for it either.

Reply:Unfortunately, all private party purchases are considered "as-is" unless there was a written guarantee. You can not return the vehicle nor get your money back unless the seller is willing to grant your request.

Reply:Nope, you wont be able to get your money back as you bought it "AS-IS" from a private seller unless of course you had a written contract between you and the private seller, which you probably don't. Sounds like you got a transmission problem or something, but you'll have to take care of it on your own and foot the bill for it. Next time you buy a car, get it inspected before purchasing it and ask for service receipts.
Reply:I am assuming that because it was a private sale that you did not fill out any type of "lemon agreement" with the other party, so the short answer is no you can not get your money back.

Reply:You may be out of luck,but if you really want to get justice,and the price of a lawyer is worth it to you, you have every right to utilize the "Lemon" Law.


I'm sure the car is a Lemon,and even though it was from a private seller,you should still have some rights.


Not sure about this,but if you invested a sum in this car,it may be worth your time to at least consult a consumer attorney,or Legal Aid.


At the very least,you may be able to sue the seller in court.

Reply:Take it to a mechanic and see what is wrong with it. See if anything was put in the transmission or motor to make it work temporarily. Then check your local Lemon Law to see if you have a case against the seller. But you probably are just out of luck since you bought it from an individual.
Reply:You bought a used car from a private party. Private party sales are "as is". About the only options you have is selling the car and take the loss or fix it. The seller doesn't have to do anything for you.





Lemon laws don't apply here. Used car purchased from a private seller. Buyer assumes all risk.
